Gerard's POV
I heard Mikey leave this morning. I didn't try to stop him. It was stupid of him to go after I told him it wasn't going to end well. He just doesn't listen. We're going into the city today to stock up on medicines, me, Frank, and Ray that is. We changed into more appropriate attire, I had to wear a wig to hide my hair, grabbed what we needed and headed out. We drove into Bat City and parked the car in the slums. Covering it with a tarp, then moved on.
It was about a ten minute walk into the real city. Where BLInd really had it's grip. We kept our heads down and stuck to alleyways as much as we could until we got to a pharmacy. Once we got there we quickly got everything we would need and went to the cash register.
"Is that all for you today?" The clerk asked.
"Yes. Thank you." I replied.
"Manners Poison? That's a first." I stiffened at the voice.
"Who?" I asked turning around. Just as I suspected, Korse stood just in the doorway.
He laughed, "Don't play dumb, it won't work for you. Besides, I have your brother."
I tensed even more. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Ray put the money on the counter and grab our bag.
"I'm gonna shoot him." Frank whispered behind me.
I dropped the act, "What do you mean?"
"Let me show you." Korse pulled his phone out and called someone. He put it on speaker, "You have Kobra?"
The person on the other line answered, "Yes. He's right here. He took a pretty nasty fall too."
"Bring him back. Dead or alive doesn't matter to me."
I felt the blood drain from my face.
"Sure thing."
Korse hung up, "So poison, what now?"
I didn't move. I stood staring at him horrified for minutes.
His phone ringing broke the silence.
"Yes." Korse answered.
"Kobra's dead." The person told him.
Korse smirked at me, "That's fine. Bring him. You know where." He hung up before they could reply.
I couldn't feel anything. All I could hear was my heart beating wildly in my ears. He couldn't be dead. He couldn't.
I fell to my knees. I was staring blanking at Korses' legs. Mikey couldn't be dead. Mikey wasn't dead. Not dead.
I felt my breathing speed up. Not dead. Mikey isn't dead. Mikey is not dead. It was getting harder for me to breath.
I barely registered Ray picking me up and carrying me out of the pharmacy. I don't know what happened to Korse. The next thing I know I'm sitting in the back of the car. Frank is sitting next to me, holding my hand and looking at me concerned.
"Gee?" He asked me.
"Y-yeah." I breathed out shakily. It's my fault. He left because I was yelling at him all last night. My fault.
He didn't say anything, just hugged me the best he could with us both in seatbelts. I hugged him back lightly.
It's my fault Mikey's dead. I let out a sob.
"Oh, Gee, please don't cry. Please." Frank told me sadly wiping away my tears.
"I-I-It's my f-fault." I sobbed out.
"No. No, no, no. No, it's not your fault. Don't think that. It's not your fault. Come here." He unbuckled and slid closer to me, then unbuckled me and held me against his chest, rubbing my back.
I cried into his chest until I fell asleep.
