"So, let me get this straight," I pointed at Steve and smiled, "You're Captain America and your friends are the Avengers?" I said.

"Yes," he said and laughed.

"What the actual fuck!" I laughed, shaking my head. This was insane.

He stopped laughing and looked at me, "So, what do you do for a living?"

"Well, I use to work at this little café in Ohio, but now I'm trying to finish up college and become a journalist,"

"Is that why you moved here?" he asked.

My smile faded and I could feel my anxiety kick in.

"Um, no. I didn't really move here. That bag is the only thing I have. I guess you could say that I ran away," I explained.

"From what? If you don't mind me asking," he said.

I tucked a piece of hair behind my ear, "My ex-boyfriend treated me like shit. He would yell at me, call me nasty names, and beat me, which you already know,"

"I wanna kill him for that,"

I giggled and felt tears swell up in my eyes. I didn't realize that talking about it was gonna be this hard. I kinda thought it would be easier since I left him.

"Is it bad that I wanna go to Ohio just to beat the shit out of him?" Steve asked, standing up.

I couldn't help but laugh as I wiped some tears away.

"Please do!" I said.

"I really hope that you know that you didn't deserve to be treated like that. You're so sweet, smart, kind, and beautiful,"

"Well, thank you. I know that I didn't deserve that, but I guess I also think I did,"

Steve sat on his bed and ran a hand through his hair, "Life isn't fair. It never will be, but sometimes you get some good things. Like friends. Friends make life way better," he spoke.

"I've never really had any friends. I have about 4 really good friends. That's about it," I said.

"Having really close friends is better than feeling alone with like 10 fake ones." I stared at Steve and realized that he might be just as broke as I am. He's been through some shit, I can tell.

"Good point,"

I looked at my phone to see that it was 6 in the morning. That means that Steve and I have talked all night long.

"Yo! Stars and Stripes!" a deep voice yelled.

Steve rolled his eyes, "What, Tony?" he yelled back.

Holy fuck. I'm in Tony Stark's tower. He's rich as shit and he's Iron Man. I'm shook.

"We gotta talk!"

"Okay!" he said, smiled at me, and walked out of his room.

I grabbed my phone and saw that I had a text from my friend, Hayley.
