AUTHOR'S NOTE
Sooooo yeah. Think I'm gonna do one of these at the beginning of every chapter... Might start doing them at the end, IDK. Anyway, so I think my goal for chapters (Like word-countwise I mean) would be about 1,000 words or a little less. At least 900. Also, I know this story has been going VERY slowly... But I promise there's gonna be romance!!! It's a slowburn, and I really just tend to stress on expositions. I just worry about confusing my readers and like going straight into the climax. But within the next several chapters there WILL be romance... At least pining. Yeah, not full-on romance quite yet. But don't worry!!! Anyway, thank you for listening to me ramble on about Freytag's Plot Pyramid and junk. Enjoy the story if you can look past grammatical errors and bad storytelling!!! Thank you!!!It had been a couple hours since Keith had gotten back to his dorm after classes and cleaning. He sat on his bed, staring at his phone. The three messages he had left Shiro about an hour ago still were left unread. Keith laid back on his bed and sighed. It felt like Shiro was always out with Allura. They had only started dating a couple weeks ago! How was it possible for two people to be so attached to each other already? As far as Keith knew, it wasn't like they had been pining for each other for ages or anything. It had just kinda... happened. It was like one day, Keith had somebody he could count on with all his problems, he didn't have to worry about freaking him out or something, about being judged. Shiro was like his brother. Next day, he's always off with some... girl. It may be just his sexuality, but Keith just didn't understand how Shiro could be so devoted to some girl he practically just met.
It's because he dosen't care, Keith heard the voice in his head whisper.
Shut up. He's allowed to have interests, His own mind shot back. Only, Keith didn't seem to beleive his own (mind's?) Words.
Like you aren't. Keith was getting frustrated. Anger was swirling in his gut like a hurricane. He began to feel hot in his head and could feel sweat dripping down his forehead and chest.
He balled his hands into fists and suddenly had a newfound hate for the wall he was facing. He pictured it as Shiro and Allura's relationship. Not them as the people, just their "love" for each other. Everything they ever were, are, whatever they may call themselves, whatever they ever will be. Just this concept, something so simple, that had been tearing him apart. Just that. Them.
You know he dosen't really love you. He never did. He was just using you to complain about you to everyone else. Tell them what a burden you are. The'll all feel sorry for him. Give him some charity points, you know?
"I said," Keith panted. His whole forehead was now coated in sweat. He had rarely ever felt anger this severe before. It was clouding his vision. Not only mentally, but physically. He could barely see the wall in front of him.
"SHUT UP!" He screamed. Next thing he knew, he felt pain in the knuckles on his left hand. It took a second for him to process what had happened. He couldn't tell what he had did until he looked up and saw for himself. His whole left hand had been submerged into the wall of their dorm room. He had punched the wall.
Just a burden. The words he had heard just a second ago were now echoing in his mind. Only this time, it wasn't the smoth, European accent those negative words usually came from. It was his own voice. Before he could stop himself, Keith was on the ground, crying. For everything. His parents, Shiro, just anything that came to mind. He had barely cried at all since he came to college. He couldn't let anyone see him like this. But now, he didn't care. He cried for everything from his time on Earth, what he called his life. He didn't want it to be like this. He wanted to have the normal things. Snowball fights, Eating at a dinner table, begging Mom to get him something from the stupid ice cream truck. Why couldn't those be his? Most people hate crying. They don't want to because it was a sign of weakness. Keith hated it too, for the most part. But right now? It felt like the best thing ever. It felt like every burden, every loss, was just leaking out of his eyes with the tears, so he couldn't feel them anymore. He felt like he couldn't cry. He tended to bottle it all up, and squeeze the lid on so tight that later, he couldn't open it back up. That's the only way he could describe it. Keith opened his eyes and looked down. The light gray carpet, his black T-shirt, and black leggings (Yes he wore leggings) were all soaked in tears. He heard the door click and started to panic.
Shiro's gonna kill me! He thought as he looked up at the whole in the wall. He scrambled up off the floor in an effort to make it look like he hadn't been crying his eyes out. Shiro walked in, and Keith thought he was dead for sure. The tall male just froze in surprise when he saw the scene before him. Keith was standing in the middle of the room, withe red, puffy eyes and tears streaming down his face. And the wall- THE WALL! He opened his mouth to voice his confusion, until he saw Keith's expression. It was broken. Keith thought Shiro was gonna kill him, then and there, for punching the wall. His friend approached him with an expression he couldn't quite read. He braced himself for impact from Shiro's fist, but instead got something he totally wasn't prepared for. Shiro wrapped the smaller male in probably one of the tightest embraces ever. Keith felt another wave of emotions approaching him, as he felt like a helpless sailor lost at sea. No way to escape the wave, until it came crashing down on him.
He started weeping again, this time into a shoulder of a friend. "I'm so sorry," Keith sobbed. "No," Shiro responded. He slowly sat Keith down on the bed so they could talk. It immediately made Keith uncomfortable. He hated talking about feelings. Especially in an emotianal state, because then, there was no stopping him. He would just blurt out everything he was thinking. He got everything out. He explained why he punched the wall, and why he had been crying. After he was done, he just looked at Shiro for a response. Shiro looked back at him with an assured, comforting expression. "It's ok," Was all he said. And that was enough.ANOTHER AUTHOR'S NOTE
So, yeah. I'm crying!!! I'm actually really proud of this chapterrr, I feel like I portrayed the emotions and thought process of Keith pretty well. At least, I hope so. I mostly based this whole chapter off me, because I've definitely felt like this before. Sooo, yeah. Hope you enjoyed!!
