"I guess we are,"
Lance chuckled. Keith could feel his face getting warm. He turned away abruptly before Lance could see.
Keith self-consciously took a sip of his vanilla milkshake. He was starting to feel better now that he had cleared the air. But, he didn't think him and Lance would be close friends anytime soon. Then, his phone on the table started to ring. It was Shiro. "What's up, Shiro?" He said into his phone. "Hey, Keith... can I ask you something real quick?" "It better be really fast. I'm a little busy," Lance and Keith made eye contact and Lance gave him a look that said, It's fine. Keith smiled at him for understanding. "So tomorrow... I was thinking you, me, and Allura could all go to see a movie. Are you okay with that?" Keith's face dropped. Lance noticed and immediately grew concerned.
"...Keith?" Keith snapped back to attention at the sound of Shiro's voice. "That's fine." He said, almost at a whisper. 'Keith-" He hung up the phone and put it back on the table slowly.
"What's wrong?" Lance asked, tilting in his head in the most adorable way. "Oh... it's nothing," Keith muttered. He didn't want to bother Lance with his problems. "Oh... okay." Lance tilted his head downward. Keith almost thought he was disappointed he didn't tell him what had happened. Keith instantly felt guilty.
Maybe he thinks I don't trust him. He thought. He never meant to imply that he didn't trust him. Thankfully, his phone started ringing. To Keith's dismay, it was Shiro again. He reluctantly picked up the phone and held it to his ear. "What?" He asked, a little too forcefully.
"Come home, now," Shiro said authoritively. It always annoyed Keith when Shiro acted like a parent. "Why should I?" He challenged. Lance just kind of sat back awkwardly. Keith had almost forgotten he was there. He heard Shiro scoff through the phone. "If you don't return now, I'll come get you myself!" Keith balled his hands into fists. He felt beads of sweat forming on his forehead and chest, and knew something bad would happen if he didn't leave then. "Keith," Lance said softly. Keith snapped his gaze up to meet Lance's eyes. For a second, a flash of fear crossed Lance's blue eyes, and Keith realized he had been glaring. "Keith." He heard Shiro's voice through the phone, and grew even angrier.
Why am I so mad? He thought to himself. He had had little... 'spells' before, but he never really knew exactly why they happened.
Keith started to get light-headed from anger. "KEITH." Keith slammed his fists one the table and threw his phone on the ground. Miraculously, it didn't break. "Keith, stop!" Lance shouted. Keith stormed off to the bathroom. He needed to be alone.
Keith whipped the bathroom door open and, to his releif, it was completely empty. He slouched over the sink and looked up at his reflection. His face was almost red as his jacket, and small beads of sweat streamed down his forehead to the sides of his face. Keith groaned in frustration. He had blown it again with Lance! At this point, he knew they would never be together... or even friends, for that matter. Lance probably hated him now. He was nothing but some stupid, angry... freak.
Okay. Okay. Gotta think... what do I do now? He let out a breath as he looked around the rather plain bathroom. If he just went back out there, he would have to face Lance, who probably wasn't very happy with him at the moment. On the contrary, he couldn't stay in the bathroom very long. Keith made his decision. He would just go back out there, try to ignore everyone, and leave. Maybe he could rent a hotel for the night or stay with Hunk and Pidge so he wouldn't have to deal with Shiro's anger. He took a deap breath, and gathered himself to go back out there. His heart was beating at a normal rate again, to his relief. Keith slowly opened the door and stepped back out to the restaraunt. "Keith-" Lance approached him softly but Keith just continued walking past him **Hey everybody, Keith's back! No, he's not gonna say that.**. He picked his phone up off the floor and strided to the door, Lance following him. "Keith!" Lance shouted to him. Keith ignored him and stomped to his motorcycle. "Keith, stop!" He shouted again, this time even more desperate. Once Keith got to his motorcycle, Lance finally caught up to him.
"Keith, wait! I just wanna know what's going on!" Keith whipped around to where his face was just inches away from Lance's.
"Well, we don't always get what we want, now do we?" He hissed. At first, Lance looked confused. They both paused, the only thing they could hear was the Winter wind blowing around their ears and the sound of each other's breath. Then, Lance's shocked expression molded into anger. Keith could see they couldn't fix it then. He whipped around and hopped onto his motorcycle. Lance started to shout something to him, but it was lost in the sound of the rumbling engine.
He whipped out of the parking spot, almost causing Lance to fall backward because he had been so close to the motorcycle. Keith pulled out onto the main road and just drove for a few seconds before realizing he didn't even know where he was going.
Hotel room it is, Keith decided. He continued driving to the nearest decent hotel.
He checked in, only saying what he needed to. He wasn't looking to make any friends at the moment. He entered his room and flopped down on the bed. He checked his phone to see he had three missed calls from Shiro, two from Lance, and several texts from between the two of them. After a few minutes of moping, Keith showered and tried to go to sleep, but he couldn't. He stayed up awake, just thinking. He still didn't know how he was going to fix this mess. That was the last thing he thought before sleep finally claimed him.AUTHORS NOTE
So I guess this happened.
Sorry Keith has to screw it up every time him and Lance are in like the same building. Anyway, hope this buttered yall's biscuits!
