Lance hugged Keith's waist even tighter when they rounded a sharp corner.
He loved how intensely the wind was blowing in his short, brown hair. It made him feel free, somehow.
"Whooooooo!" He called out. He thought he heard Keith chuckle, but the sound was almost drowned out from the sound of the wind and the motorcycle engine. Lance thought it was so surreal how everything looked this early in the morning. It was about 4 or 5 in the morning, so the sun should be rising soon. The crickets still chirped and the atmosphere was still quiet and felt paralyzed. Very early mornings had pretty much always been Lance's favorite times. The air smelled sweet and felt still, and the world felt quiet. There was the beautiful golden hue given to the Earth, which made it feel calming. It was just really nice.
No use going to sleep tonight,  he thought. Thank goodness there were no classes later that day. Lance realised how tired he was, and yawned.
Keith must have heard, because he pulled into a 24-hour gas station and got off his motorcycle.
"Why are we here?" Lance asked. "You're tired," Keith said. "I'll let you get coffee or something." Lance smiled. Even Keith knew by now how much he loved coffee. He followed the raven-haired boy into the small building and his eyes immediately fell onto the fancy coffee bar. He erupted into excited giggles and grabbed Keith's hand and pulled him to the coffee bar. "I don't really drink coffee that much," He muttered. Lance looked at him in surprise. "Yet, you work at a coffee shop. It won't hurt you to have a cup!" Keith's face melted into a smile. There was something in it that Lance couldn't really detect. "Coffee's so good! You must have had it before. I know how many nights you stay up watching Shane Dawson," Lance accused Keith. The pale boy widened his eyes, portraying false shock. "I stay awake off anxiety, thank you very much!" Lance chuckled. "Wow. Juuuust wow." He picked a medium-sized cup off the stack while Keith did the same. "It's true," Keith defended himself. "Pfft. Okay," Lance said, still laughing a bit. He watched as his cup filled with caremel cappuchino, his favorite coffee drink. He put the lid on his cup and walked to the counter to check out his drink. Keith caught up with him and stopped him just before he was going to swipe his card. "I'll pay," The ravenette boy offered, handing the girl behind the counter his card. Lance grew flustered. "You- you don't have to, it's ok," He tried to convinve Keith. But he wouldn't budge. "Don't worry, it's not like I'm living check-to-check," He laughed nervously. Because that was a lie.
After they exited the store, Keith stopped Lance before they got on the motorcycle.
"Lance..." Keith daid to get his attention. "Do you trust me?" Lance immediately grew suspicious. "Like... trust you enough for what?" Keith averted his gaze from Lance's. "Uh... maybe just enough to take you somewhere in the town by surprise?" Lance gasped in excitement. "I love surprises!" He cried. Keith grinned. "Good. Now, get on."
After a few minutes of riding, Lance started to notice how far into town they were going, in the opposite direction of the dorms.
"Where are we going?" He asked. "You'll see," Keith answered.
Then, after what seemed like forever, they pulled into a parking spot in front of one... Vrepit Sal's Cafe.  Lance was rather surprised in Keith's choice of "mystery location". "...More coffee?" He questioned. Keith scoffed. "No. I just want to show you something. Come on, I know a way to get in," Keith led the other boy back towards the drive-thru side of the building, and Lance grew curious. Keith stopped at the drive-thru window and easily opened it from the outside. "Drive-thru window's jacked. You can open it from the outside. Cool, huh?" He turned to Lance with a smirk. With that, the raven-haired boy jumped through the window, and Lance did the same.
He had never been in the Employee's Only section, so this felt very surreal to him. The lighting was very dim, and he could only see through the streetlights pouring in amber light from the windows. After he regained his stance and they closed the window, Keith led him up the stairs to a lounge area with a huge floor-length window that occupied the whole wall, and had a perfect view of the huge bay. Keith grabbed Lance's hand **My how the tables have turned** and led him to sit on the floor, facing out the window.
"Wow," Lance breathed. The view was stunning, with the city lights reflecting off the bay and dancing on the two boy's faces. The sky was growing a grayish-brown, and still held several shining stars in it's dark web of galaxies. "It gets better," Keith told him, still fiing his gaze on the gorgeous view. As if on cue, the glowing tips of the sun reached from beyond the bay, causing a river of gold to pour down the bay, as if a road had been laid out for the two boys to follow. Lance took a sip of his coffee, almost forgetting it was there due to the beautiful sight in front of him. Keith tore his gaze away from the sunrise to look at Lance. Lance looked back at him. "It's so beautiful," He ecxlaimed, and rested his eyes on the view once again. Keith kept his gaze on the tan boy. "Yeah," he agreed. "It sure is,"
