"I want you to stay away from him." Jane commanded the second we returned to the safety of our conjoined rooms. "I don't like the way he looks at you. Like he plans on corrupting you from the inside out."
"Jane, you know I would never let him do such a thing." I sighed, leaning against my bed as she moved to open up the door that led to her bedroom.
"I don't like it, Elizabeth." Jane replied, shaking her head. "He wants you and I refuse to let his thoughts or wandering eyes anywhere near you."
"He's only going to get as far as I let him." I watched as she began to pace the room.
"But would you know when 'too far' is?" Jane paused, raising an eyebrow in my direction.
"Of course I would."
"You know less of Loki than I do. I'm not even sure Thor knows him as well as he thinks he does."
"What's your point?"
"My point is," Jane sat down on the bed beside me, "that neither of us know what he is capable of."
"Of course I wouldn't know what he's capable of. You won't even tell me who Thor really is."
"You're not ready to hear the answer to that question yet."
"And what about Loki? Is he the same as his brother?" I pressed on. "I know for a fact that they're not human, so what else is there?"
"I refuse to discuss this with you, Elizabeth." Jane shook her head profusely.
"I have a right to know!" I fought back in an angry tone. "You dragged me to who knows where to meet Thor's family, and I find out they live in a castle made of gold where everything seems like something you would see in some fantasy or sci-fi movie. I want to know the truth, Jane. You've involved me now, and I'm tired of being kept in the dark."
"Loki and Thor were not raised like us. That's all you need to know." Jane slid off the bed and paced towards the door that led to her room.
"Then how do you expect me to stay clear of Loki if I don't even know what I'm supposed to stay clear from?" I stood at the foot of the bed, attempting to draw her attention. "What if he has some crazy insane power that I don't know to look out for? What if he possesses my body and you'll never know because I won't be able to tell you?"
"Enough!" Jane growled, turning on her heel and grasping the door in her hand. "We're done with this discussion. I don't want to hear anymore inquiries from you about Thor or Loki, or anyone else here for that matter."
"Whatever." I hissed, turning back around to look out the window at the foreign world before me.
"I'll see you in the morning." I heard her sigh as she began to close the door. "Goodnight, Elizabeth."
As I heard the click of the heavy block of wood shut, I slid onto the bed, pulling my notepad from my bag on the floor. If Jane wanted me to be prepared, I would be prepared. At the top of the page I scribbled four little letters. Loki. Underneath, I began to write my inquiries.
1). Is Loki human?
2). Does Loki have magic? If so, does that make him a wizard?
