Joe Torre, Rusty Staub and Tom Seaver hand the amazin's 86 wins in 1976 but it wasn't enough to make it back to the postseason. The Mets have been on the up spring since they lost Nolan Ryan a few years ago but Tom Seaver has held down the fort pretty well. The Mets will head into the 1977 season with a 36 year old Joe Torre and a Tom Seaver who has been the best pitcher the Mets has ever had. The Mets played their best baseball a few years ago and are probably going to rebuild for the upcoming decade. These next few years might the last time we see Tom Seaver in a Mets uniform. The Mets are in a thought national league east which makes it difficult for them to make the postseason.
