The Mets won 83 more games in 1971 and Mets finish forth pace in the National League East. The Mets were again led by Tom Seaver and Nolan Ryan on the pitching mound. There was nobody better than than the pitching staff of the New York Mets but the Mets bats didn't get the memo. I'm starting to think we're wasting the talents of Nolan Ryan and Tom Seaver but the Mets did win the World Series in 1969 with half of the duo active. Shea Stadium has been the home of the Mets for eight years now and the Mets have done pretty well at the new stadium.
