A storm rolled in from the north bringing killing colds and a blanket of snow. The wind howled outside and the snow was so thick you could not see more than a few feet in front of you. Raphael stayed outside as long as possible before finally admitting defeat and hurrying into the cabin.

He saw Tess in the kitchen and she appeared to be cooking something, he shed his jacket and was kicking off his boots when she spoke timidly.

"I...made spaghetti," She said.

"For me?" He asked, surprised.

"Well....It's your food and I thought you would be hungry."

He carefully moved into the kitchen aware of her blue eyes constantly watching him, judging what he might do next.

"Thank you," He said carefully.

She picked up a plate of her own and scurried around to the small table, sitting down and turning her attention to her plate. She glanced at the window and the snow that was blowing outside.

"How long will the storm last?" She asked.

"I don't know hard to tell this time of year, The generator is full of gas and we have plenty of wood and supplies."

"You don't get scared being out here alone like this?"

"No, I know the mountain I can survive."

He sat down across from her with his plate and she shifted a little in her seat, clearly uncomfortable.

He took a bite of the food she made and had to admit it was a lot better than the stuff he had been making lately.

"This is really good and I appreciate it," He said.

She forced a smile and then turned back to her own plate, it had been years since he had sat down and had dinner with a woman, or another human being in general.

"You said there is nobody for miles...how far exactly is that?" She asked carefully.

He looked up at her, pausing with his fork still in his hand.

"Planning an escape?"

"No."

"I wouldn't in this weather. It's thirty miles to town and roughly eighteen to the nearest neighbor."

"Who do you talk to our here?" She asked.

"You right now...the rest of the time, nobody."

"Can I ask you a favor?" She asked, pushing her spaghetti around.

"Yeah."

"When you do it....can you....can you let me somewhere my parents will find out? just let me somewhere they can find me. I don't want them to always wonder."

He didn't reply his eyes scanning her as she sat in the chair across from him, she was trying to put on a brave front but he knew she was terrified and he didn't blame her.

"Tess, I don't know you but...I promise if I have to do something I'll see to it your family gets closure."

She glanced again at the window and the storm raging outside, he wasn't stupid he knew how to read people and he knew she was making up her mind on rather or not she should risk the outdoors.

"I can't stress enough how positive I am you would die out there," He said.

He didn't know why it bothered him so much to think of her out there, in reality, it would make his life easier.
