Chapter Seventeen

Matt's P.O.V.

I saw my dad lift up Kassadie right after Emily kicked her. Which was probably the best thing, since I almost lost control of my wolf and let go of Emily. We did the spell to get Emily's spirit out of Makenzie. As soon as I saw Emily's spirit leave, I dropped Makenzie running to the door my dad just shut. I should be carrying her, not him!

"Dad! Let me carry her. Please." I said as I walked to catch up with him.

"Ok. She lost consciousness. But she is still alive. Even though you've changed her, she will still need a cast on her leg. She doesn't heal as quickly. I will go and get Lucy right now." He said without taking a breath and then left me alone.

I took her down stairs to the doctors office where we can get a cast on her.

"Kassadie? Please wake up." I whispered rubbing her arm. She groaned so I knew she was awake but didn't want to talk.

'What color cast do you want Kass?' I asked her through the link we had.

'I don't care. I'm sorry Matt. Also, I have a killer head ache.' She told me and I chuckled.

'If you open your eyes and can drink I'll get you some ibuprofen.' I told her, she smiled and opened her eyes. I loved looking into her eyes. But today, they were full of sadness. And I didn't like that.

"Please tell me what I can do Kass." I told her holding her hand.

"I'm sorry Matt. I should've listened." She told me, then she had a tear run down her face.

"I don't care. It doesn't matter. You're safe, and she's gone. That's what matters. Okay?" I whispered to her, then I wiped the tears from her face.

"Matt?" She asked me.

"Mm hmm."

"I love you." She told me, then sat up and kissed me.

"I love you too."

Makenzie's P.O.V.

I woke up in a room I had never been in before.

"Makenzie! You're awake!" I heard Kassie say, it was dark in the room so I couldn't see her. "Can I turn on the light?" She asked and I grinned.

"Ya." My voice sounded all scratchy. "What happened?"

"We can talk about that later." She said as the lights flipped on. Kassadie had a bright pink cast on her leg. It started mid thigh and went clear down almost to her ankle.

"What happened to your leg?!" I asked her sitting up, then I got a huge headache so I laid back down.

"That is a part of the story for later. For now, let's talk about this." She told me using her crutches to walk over to me then she held up her left hand with a wedding ring on it.

"Oh. My. Gosh." I said totally shocked and she grinned. It was beautiful. The ring was silver. It had a huge sapphire in the middle, and tiny diamonds running the rest of the way around. "Tell me how he proposed!"

Kassadie's P.O.V.

"Tell me how he proposed!" Makenzie said, and I think I heard her squeal. As I was telling her, I flashed back.

I was sitting in the garden thinking about what happened the last few weeks, when I heard someone walk up and sit next to me. It was Matt.

"Hey. Can I take you out to dinner tonight?" He asked me, and he had the goofiest grin on his face.

"Yeah, sure. I'd like that!" I told him, and smiled at him. He leaned over and gave me a kiss, then stood up and started walking away. "What should I wear?" I called after him. He didn't even turn around to answer me.
