"SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANS!"
"What's goin' on?" The skeleton in question asked lazily from his spot on the couch.
"I found a small human! They were crying!" Papyrus answered anxiously. "I think they're hurt, too!"
Sans jumped up and ran to his brother. "Where are they? You didn't bring them here?"
"E-eh... no. But I'll lead you to where I found them!"
"Fair enough," The shorter skeleton sighed.
//Your P.O.V.//
You were an adopted kid. Earlier today, your guardian had taken you out to "play in the snow", according to him. Soon after getting there he let go of your hand and told you he'd be right back. But a long time passed and there was nobody around, so you got worried and started wandering around, calling out for help.
A few minutes ago you tripped over something and fell down, your knee hitting a rock under the snow. After that you gave up. You just sat in the cold and cried.
After an indeterminate amount of time, you heard distant voices and footsteps that were steadily growing closer.
"THERE THEY ARE!" Shouted the first voice. "WORRY NOT, HUMAN! WE SHALL RESCUE YOU!"
"Slow down, Pap!" Huffed a second, much deeper voice.
The footsteps stopped just inches away, and you heard the faint pop of joints as if someone was crouching down.
"Hello there, human!" Said the first voice, this time in a gentler tone. "I saw you before and was wondering if you are lost? Or hurt? Both?"
"Both," you mumbled shyly. You didn't know where the stranger's face was, so you just "looked" at a random spot in front of you.
"I see you are admiring my scarf! It's nice, isn't it?"
"Uh, bro, I don't think the kid can see," commented the deeper voice. You nodded to confirm his guess, and immediately you were swept up by who you assumed to be the first stranger.
"Lost, hurt, and unable to see the magnificence of the Great Papyrus?! This is truly a dilemma! Fear not, young one, my brother and I will care for you!"
You were rushed to a warm, cozy place indoors, most likely the house of the nice strangers. You were set on the couch while your knee was wrapped up to prevent further injury, and your snow-soaked jacket was replaced by a fuzzy blanket.
The strangers explained that they were brothers, named Papyrus and Sans, and that they were skeleton monsters. You told them your name and how you had gotten to the position they found you in.
The story seemed to upset Sans. "If I ever figure out who abandoned you, I'm gonna pound 'em for giving you a bad time." He cracked his knuckles.
Papyrus seemed unfazed by his brother's violent comment, because he immediately announced he was going to make spaghetti and ran off into another room.
Sans ruffled your hair. "I bet you're glad to be out of the snow, huh? Now you can chill in here."
"PUNS ARE NOT THE WAY TO COMFORT A TRAUMATIZED CHILD, SANS!"
"Don't flurry about it, bro."
"SANS!"
You laughed at the skeletons' antics, which Sans took as a sign to continue.
"Just snowcus on your cooking, alright?"
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA—"
You had been living with the skeleton brothers for a few weeks now. Despite Papyrus' efforts to feed you mainly pasta, Sans made sure you ate well. He was really the more responsible of the two, although his brother was desperately trying to become your favorite.
It wasn't long before you were introduced to their friends. Toriel and Asgore were really nice. Undyne was a lot like Papyrus. Mettaton was fun to be around, and Alphys was awkward yet kind.
Then there was Frisk. They were a quiet kid a little bit older than you, and besides the skelebros they were the one who understood you the most. They were probably the closest thing you ever had to a sibling.
One day, Frisk said they had a surprise for you. You jokingly asked if you should close your eyes.
"Okay, smartypants," they laughed. "Just reach out."
You did, and your fingers touched a small sheet of card stock with smooth bump-like things all over. Upon further feeling, you realized it was a 3-D photograph of you and the skelebros.
You hugged Frisk, starting to tear up. "Thanks so much! How did you do this?"
"Alphys has this machine that can make 3-D photos, it's really neat! It was Papyrus' idea, though."
"I'll thank them both!" You promised, hugging your friend a second time before running off to show Sans.
"That's pretty neat, kiddo!" He commented. "Just don't take it for photogranted, alright?"
"I HEARD THAT PUN!" Papyrus shouted from upstairs.
You just laughed as the brothers exchanged their banter. You couldn't have possibly wished for a better family.
