The potluck was a success. Everyone seemed to get along with (Y/N) pretty well, although I could tell Toriel was uncomfortable. Undyne shared Papyrus' enthusiasm for the thing, and Frisk and Sans were, of course, completely chill the whole time.

Admittedly, I had fun, but it was time to go back home. I needed to give (Y/N) their shots anyway, they were starting to melt into the rug a bit.

Upon getting home, I took care of (Y/N)'s injection and tried to call Alphys to see if she was coming back soon. It went to voicemail.

I was about to try again when I saw the time on the wall clock— I was going to be late for my TV appearance!

I looked over at (Y/N) starting to doze off. I couldn't leave them here, but I couldn't ask someone else to watch over them for me... everyone was bound to be getting ready for bed by now.

I would have no choice but to bring them with me... I could figure out the details when I got there. I had no time to stop and think now.

I'd gotten into the habit of switching into my humanoid form whenever I made public appearances (the fans go crazy for that gorgeous body), so I needed to do that first and foremost.

I flipped my switch, thinking nothing of it after doing it so many times. The click roused (Y/N) from sleep, and they looked at me with curiosity.

As the transformation began, (Y/N)'s temper went from sleepy to frantic. They jumped up, howling and squealing in panic. It occurred to me that they had never seen me switch modes...

Or seen my other body.

It hit me that from their point of view, it was like me disappearing and being replaced with a complete stranger. Not good. Forgot they don't have a sense of object permanence.

With the transformation finished, I was able to move again, and I reached my hands out to the hysterical creature.

"Darling, it's okay! It's me! Mettaton! Your favorite!"

The familiar sound of my voice seemed to help just a little, although they were still shaking and whimpering. I walked toward them slowly, then, when I was sure they weren't going to freak out again, scooped them up in my arms.

"See, not so bad. Come along now, we're already late."

The poor thing was still nervous the whole way to the studio, and became even more timid when they saw all the humans everywhere. I suppose they were more used to monsters than anything else.

The two of us got some funny looks from the people passing by, but I ignored it with style. Eventually I found the right place, and after explaining who I was and why I was there, I was let in. Security escorted me to the green room to meet the host of the talk show I was going to be on.

The well-dressed human man had a big, fake, business grin on his face when he came forward to meet me, but instantly dropped the facade upon seeing what I was holding.

"What the FUCK is THAT?!" he screeched. The sound made (Y/N) flinch.

I put a hand on (Y/N)'s head defensively. "This precious darling is my companion (Y/N), who will be joining us on the show tonight." I made it perfectly clear that it was not optional.

The man nodded. "Right... just... keep it away from me... ugh..." He and (Y/N) looked at each other with mutual fear of one another.

I flipped my hair sassily. "Very well. When does the show start?"

"About... ten minutes..." He looked like he was going to throw up. "I'll, uh, see if there's a cushion or something we can put down so that thing doesn't ruin the seats..."

(Y/N) was melting into my arms (quite literally) now that they had settled down a bit, and this guy was clearly not enthused by the idea of having a living slime ball on his fancy furniture. I'll admit it was kind of fun seeing this hoity-toity human squirm at the sight of something that wasn't perfectly pristine.

As the host was being prepped for the show, I was escorted to the stage. The live audience was already seated, and they burst into a mix of different reactions when I appeared with (Y/N), who became nervous again from all the commotion.

I sat down on the couch adjacent to the host's desk. I was tempted to put (Y/N) down on the seat next to me, but I'm not that evil, so I simply set them on my lap.

The host soon appeared, and, keeping a wary eye on my charge, sat down behind his desk.

"And we're rolling in..." a cameraman announced, "five... four... three... two... one!"

This was supposed to be the last part, but it ran longer than expected, so... TBC!
