Travelling is something I loved but never got enough opportunities to do. When I was a little girl, mommy, dad and I took a trip to Disneyland for my sixth birthday for which both of them had been saving for quite some time. That was the last trip we took as a family. After mommy's death, needless to say I never went anywhere except for the Art Camp.
Then, in college, girls used to plan trips all the times but I always rejected due to various reasons. In all the four years of my college, I only went on one trip to California with Connor, Mason and Hannah during summer before Connor's graduation. The reason I said yes to that trip was purely Connor because he was way too much excited and I didn't want to let him down. At the time, I didn't know it was going to be the first and last time we went on a trip together.
Connor and I haven't been on contact since our break up but I do hear about him from Mason whenever I meet him with Hannah. From what I have heard, he is doing great in Dubai, busy expanding his business. Honestly, I couldn't be happier for him.
Now, all things aside, the reason I started rambling about travelling is because I am about to make one. A big one. New York City; the city where dreams come true. It has always been my dream to visit New York. Never had I thought before I would be coming here so soon and never in million years would I have thought I would be visiting NYC to fulfill my dream.
New York city is famous for the different types of cultures it represents after all it is the birthplace of many cultural movements in literature and visual arts, abstract expressionism in paintings; and hip hop, jazz, salsa, punk, freestyle and so on in music. Not only that, but this city has more than two thousand arts and cultural organizations and more than 500 art galleries of all sizes.
And, I blame it on the air of New York City for I actually believe my dreams are soon going to be true. It has been half an hour since our flight landed and it's been just five minutes that we stepped out of the airport, but I am already falling in love with this city.
"I can't believe we are actually here. We are in New York, Evan." I exclaim giddily, resisting the urge to jump up and down like a small child.
Evan shakes his head watching my enthusiasm. "For someone who was so opposed of the idea, you seem really excited."
"Hey, I didn't oppose." I stress, lamely.
He cocks his eyes, amused. "Really now? So, it wasn't you who said, 'Are you sure she can be trusted? We have just met her...'" He smirks, eyebrows raised in satisfaction when I duck my head, bashfully. He is enjoying this too much. "And I guess, you didn't even say I really don't think this is a good idea. What if she is not serious and just messing with us; even though I called her four times to confirm that we accepted her offer and that we were coming down to New York."
"Fine, fine, you win." I huff, irritably, sending daggers at his direction when he smirks in victory. "Evan Thomson, you are a really cruel man."
"And, you are a sore loser Hazel Ryder." He fires back, an amused smile still pasted on his lips. Maybe, I am not the only one affected by New York's air.
