Chapter Five

A week after the incident, it was time for my show and I was beyond excited. I ran outside the giant tent-shaped building to find Rob, KF, and Kaldur. I excitedly walked over to the ticket booth where I found said friends waiting in the long line.

"Hi, guys!" I exclaimed, quickly drawing their attention.

"Luca!" They all exclaimed in unison, each one giving me a hug separately.

"You guys don't have to wait in line, I have your tickets right here." I laughed with a huge smile while handing them each a ticket.

"VIP?" Pondered boy wonder as he examined the red tickets. The three boys looked at me in surprise and confusion.

"Yeah, you have to call in advance to get VIP seats and no one did so the ringmaster gave me the tickets for friends! Anyway, you guys should get some food and get to your seats, the show in gonna start soon." I explained with a wide smile and left before they could respond. I ran back the way I came and ran to find my partner, Zane. Looking around, I found the redhead watching the ringmaster introduce the animals. "Hey, Zane, you excited?" I asked with a giggle as he jumped.

"Yeah... Kinda nervous though." He responded, after he calmed down, never making eye contact. I grabbed his shoulders and pulled him into a hug, his arms immediately wrapping around me.

"Hey, I've told you fifty times, there's nothing to be nervous about. We have been up on the bars a thousand times, never unintentionally falling once. You have nothing to worry about, besides, there's always a net below us." I reassured with a soft smile "Just... Make sure you don't drop me!" I laughed, succeeding in making the boy laugh.

"You're right and I'll try not to! Thanks, Lu." He thanked once we pulled away. I immediately remembered the way my mom would say that. I only smiled wider and turned on my heel towards the dressing room.

"I have to go get ready, you should too, we go one after the clowns." I informed, skipping over to my dressing room. I smiled as I looked over my outfit before putting on the black, crop top and shorts then the blue, galaxy skirt and straps (A/N I forgot what they're called). After I was done, I walked out of my room and walked back towards where I was earlier, seeing my partner with his costume on, black pants and a blue, galaxy shirt. I walked towards him and started to chalk myself up, never letting my eyes leave the clowns that were now preforming. My eyes wandered for a bit until they locked with of a pair familiar covered eyes. I smiled at Robin and he smiled back, returning his attention to the show.

Finally it was the for my and Zane to do our thing.

"Ladies and gents this is the moment you've waited for, The Flying Freelancers!" The ringmaster announced, earning a roar of applause and cheers. Suddenly, the music started and I began to walk out.

I wonder what I'm running from
Stay inside and barricade the door

I made it to the middle and started up the long ladder.

Miss the sun to avoid the storm
Would do anything to feel the warmth
I wonder where I'm going wrong

I started to climb faster.

And right now I'm open, I'm open.

Finally, I made it to the top and backed up a bit then grabbed the bar and started to 'walk on air' as I swung. I did a few flips then landed back on the platform, hooking the bar. I started to climb down the ladder.

I wanna fall like I won't hit the ground

I wanna dance like nobody's around

I stopped and decided to climb up the ladder.

Walk on the edge and not look down
Follow my heart and lose my head into the clouds
It took a while but I'm here now

I reached the top again and grabbed the bar, taking a deep breath and started to swing. I hooked my knees and arched my back before withdrawing my arms and proceeding to stand on top of the bar.

Suddenly, my feet 'slipped' and I fell, right into Zane's open arms.

But for the moment live slowly

We did a bunch of tricks and flips, soon Zane and I pulled ourselves up on the bar.

I hold my hands up
Afraid of so much
It's time I let it all go
Maybe I've lost touch
In all the blind love
I'm gonna let it all go

I fell back, my hands finding Zane's again as he swung me around. I started to 'walk on air' again. I swung forward and Zane let me go, me spinning in the air and grabbing his hands again. We switched places quickly and I threw him back to my original bar, me swinging over after.

I put the bar back on the hook and turned to my partner, giving him a kiss on the cheek. Climbing back down the ladder, the arena(?... I'm tired okay?) Flooded with applause again. I looked around and found the faces of my friends with their jaws dropped, I just smirked and took a bow then walked back into my dressing room.

The show was a big success and everyone loved it!

"That was awesome! Why didn't we come see it sooner?!" Was the first thing I heard when I got out of my room. I chuckled and walked towards Rob, Wally and Kaldur. "And Luca looked hot in that costume." That remark earned a nod from Robin and a slap upside the head from me.

"Glad you liked the show but I could have loved without the last comment, Wallman." I responded with a laugh.
