Chapter 45~

{Zane's POV}

My thoughts snapped back to reality when a piercing scream split the air. All of our heads shot up, and towards the direction of the sound. Max and Ross glanced at each other.

Travis sighs. "We can't see who it is, remember?"

"I d-don't think I want to..." Sam stuttered.

I nod. "Even though it was a murder... the attacker was undoubtedly Unknown."

Sarah nods. "We need to keep our sights on figuring out who he is. That way we can keep everyone out of danger." 

Just then, my phone vibrated in my pocket.

"It's Unknown." I blurted, and everyone's views shifted to me.

Sarah looked confused. "A text?"

I nodded.

U: One down.

----

My breath caught in my throat.

Melody.

I looked over at Travis, my voice failing me.

He looked over at my shoulder and sighed.

My surprised furthered when he didn't say anything, except "Let's get back to work."

Max and Ross looked at each other alarmed, which caught my gaze.

They must have invited her here.

I felt Travis' hand leave my shoulder, and I immediatly headed over to Max and Ross.

Max sighed, his voice going low. "This is my fault, isn't it?"

"No." I said, sure, my voice also dropping. "We didn't know until later."

Ross nods. "Yeah, he's right." His voice was also almost a whisper, as he set his hand in Max's. "We couldn't have known, so don't beat yourself up about it, man."

((Admit it, you said that 'man' in Ross' voice.))

Max nods, sighing again. "Let's avenge her."
