ice skating date

"Hello beautiful!" Mike spoke sweetly as he kissed El's cheek. El blushed and smiled in return.
"Awe! You all are too cute!" They look over their shoulders and roll their eyes when they see the rest of the party staring at them with admiration.
"So, I was thinking we could go somewhere tonight." Mike said and El turned to face her handsome boy.
"Like a date?"
"Yeah. Like a date." El's smile brightened as her excitement grew.
"Yay! Sounds fun. Where are we going?"
"It's a surprise."

"NANCY?" Mike yelled as he entered the house. Nancy came around the corner out of the kitchen and gave her little brother a smile.
"Hey Mike! What's up?"
"I need your help." Nancy's eyebrows furrowed.
"What's wrong?"
"I-I asked El out on a, um, a, d-date." Nancy smiled and Mike's turned a deep red, which made Nancy laugh.
"Shut up!" Nancy laughed even harder.
"Never mind. I'll just go ask Steve or something."
"N-no I'm sorry." Nancy managed to say between laughs.
"Fine. Are you done?"
"Yeah. Yeah. Okay, so where did you say you were going to take her?"
"I told her it was a surprise."
"Okay, well do you have any ideas?"
"No. I don't know what to do. What would she like?" Nancy is thought for a second and then she thought of the perfect idea.
"What about an ice skating date?!" Mike shook his head yes and went to his room to get ready. He quickly changed into a striped sweater and jeans, throwing a light jacket over himself. He combed through his hair and put a bit of cologne on, knowing him much El loves the smell. Taking on last look in the mirror, he was finally satisfied with his look and ran out the door.
"Ready?" Nancy said as she grabbed her keys.
"Ready."

They pulled up to the Hoppers' cabin and Mike jumped out with flowers in his hand that Nancy gave him.
Mike walked up to the door and knocked he special knock he and El had come up with together. Not even a second later the door opens and reveals El in a pair of mom jeans, sweater, and white Converse.
"Hi Mike." El smiled, which made Mike smile. He handed her he flowers and El's face lit up.
"Thank you Mike! They're beautiful."
"Not as beautiful as you." El blushed and Mike held out his arm.
"Shall we?"
"We shall."

Nancy drove them to the closest skating rink in town as the adorable young couple sat in the back and talked about anything and everything.
"Alright. We're here." Nancy said as she handed Mike some money. He gave her a thankful smile and proceeded to step out of the car.
"Bye Nance." El have a small wave and grabbed Mike's hand.
"So, what exactly are we doing?"
"We're going ice skating." El cocked her head and furrowed her eyebrows in confusion.
"I-Ice skating?"
"Yeah. You put on these special shoes called skates and skate around on ice."
"That sounds hard. Does it hurt?"
"I mean yeah it's hard, but it doesn't hurt unless you fall."
"You won't let me fall?"
"Of course not." They smiled at each other and then proceeded to enter the rink.

   "Don't worry El. I've got you!" Mike said as he helped her step on the ice.
"Promise?"
"Promise."
El steps on the ice, struggling not to fall.
"Okay. Now, try to glide." Mike says as he holds her up.
She steps forward, dragging her other foot. With every step, she gains speed, eventually letting go of Mike.
"Look at you! You're a natural!" Mike cheers, leaning against the rink wall.
"Your turn Mike!" El yells over at him. He leans up off the wall and does the same as El, putting one foot in front of the other. He stares over at El, who is smiling as big as ever. He looks back as he feels his feet slide out from under him. Mike hits the cold, hard ice, causing El to burst out laughing. She glides over to him and reaches her hand out to help him up. Mike grabs her hand and pulls her to the ice beside him. They both start laughing hysterically, almost to the point of tears.
"Hey! I thought you wouldn't let me fall!" She says with a. sweet smile.
"Well you let me fall!"
"Fine. We're even!" El leans down and kisses Mike on the cheek, leaving Mike with red cheeks and a smile. She laid her head down on Mike's chest.
"Uh El?"
"Yes Mike?"
"I kinda need you to get up..."
