OOF burst of writing heheheh

Lapis POV.

This was crazy.

But I didn't want to leave. Let alone leave Peri. We had gotten so close and my chest ached when she told me what was happening.

But now she was suggesting we run away.

So I said yes.

It was crazy, but the thought was enticing. We wouldn't have to deal with any more homes, or deal with being separated. It would just be us.

Peridot was already packing the bag I gave her, full of the beef jerky, a few books, and a couple of pencils.

I didn't have anything to bring except myself (and a little money i had because of... reasons), so once she began to struggle with putting stuff in her bag I went over and lightly grabbed her wrist.

"You can use my bag too." She blinked, but smiled, and took it, beggining to fill it up with jerky as well. It only took about half the bag, and she handed it back.

'Don't you have anything you want to bring?' She questioned, closing her bag and shoving it back under the bed for the time being.

"I might take my journal. And we can sneak a bit more food from the cafeteria during dinner. But I've never kept many things." It was hard to, when you were moving so much.

But she didn't ask about it further, just turned and leaned back against her bed. I followed suit, but leaned my head against her shoulder. "We'll be okay... we make a good team."

I was surprised when her hand hesitantly grabbed mine, and I looked to see her eyes closed.

I smiled, returning to her shoulder and turning my hand over to grip her hand back.

"Together, peri."

-----------------------------------

Like we agreed, we snuck 2 puddings and 2 mediocre granola bars from dinner, and then pretended to be sad as we made our way back to our room.

But the second rose came by to check on us, smiling sadly and then leaving, peridot was off her bed and pulling her bag out. She tossed her snuck food to me, which I gladly stuffed in MY bag along with my journal.

I had another bag. A duffel, which me and Peri had strategiccly stuffed with clothes, so that we didn't have to sacrifice any of the food or other items. I picked it up, and peeked out into the hall, just to see if it was clear.

I smiled to myself when I felt a familier hand on my shoulder, and I turned to meet her eyes.

Even though we'd known eachother for so long, at that moment I saw some emotion. Her eyes were brighter, but softer. I felt my heart beat quicker, before I took a breath and smiled, opening the door and leading the blonde out.

We snuck through the halls, and I stopped whenever Peri tapped my shoulder once; a signal that meant someone was near.

But we made it to the back door, and I left opening it to Peri, so she could be careful with how much noise it made, watching behind us.

But it went smoothly, and we slipped out, peridot slowly closing it back and slumping a bit out of relief. She turned back to me, and I took her hand, lightly leading her around to a safe, jumpable portion of the wall.

Peridot threw the duffel over first, and kneeled, offering to help me up. I huffed, and stepped on her knee, getting on the top before reaching my hand down.
