"A movie?" asked Peyton as she forged in the fridge for food, coming up rather empty.
"Sarah suggested it," explained Jonathan.
"So?" asked Peyton. "Dad, really, a movie?"
"It's a monster movie," offered Jonathan.
Peyton laughed. "Oh, really?" My girlfriend is a vampire Dad, how about them apples? She does things to me...
"It was Sarah's suggestion," he repeated. "After the odd week we've all had, we thought a normal night out would be nice. Sarah thought..."
"You know, I think you've been spending a lot of time with Sarah this week," said Peyton. "Do you think you and Sarah could go shopping for food?"
Jonathan peered into the fridge, and then moved to the cupboard. "I think we should go shopping."
"What?" asked Peyton.
"We used too, before..."
"Mom," whispered Peyton the sting of the loss contorted to reveal her inner pain.
"Do you want to talk about her? At all?" offered Jonathan.
"What do you want to talk about, Dad? She was like me, a freak..."
"You are not a freak!" snapped Jonathan. "Neither was your mother. She was simply different and that difference made her mad, Peyton. This is why you need to..."
"What?" asked Peyton her hands flexing softly at her sides.
"Embrace who you are," he said softly. "It's okay that you're with Kameron, in fact, the moment you laid eyes on her, you changed. No, you didn't change, you went back to being the daughter I love."
Peyton blushed. "Dad."
"I'm being serious, if Kameron is what makes you happy, well then..."
"It's ok?" asked Peyton.
"Very ok," nodded Jonathan. "Now, do you want to go shopping or not?"
Peyton blushed. "Yeah, I do."
"How about you drive?" offered Jonathan.
"You really aren't feeling well," muttered Peyton, following her father to the front door.

"A ring," said Kameron to Sarah as they got ready for their double date on Friday night with Jonathan and Peyton. "This woman had a ring and it changed color, like a mood ring, but it was something else. I could see something, vibrating off it, for lack of a better word."
"I thought your guidance counselor was a guy?" asked Sarah. "Is this shirt ok?" she asked coming out of her room and waving her hand in front of herself in a Vanna White like motion.
"You like Jonathan...," teased Kameron. She wasn't wearing her contacts anymore, her eyes were back to their normal translucent blue. Kameron was, however, wearing the smoky tinted glasses.
"I like him, he's very sweet," said Sarah.
"So about this woman," continued Kameron.
"Yeah, do tell me about this woman," said Sarah. What else could go wrong?
"So her name is Courtney Smythe-"
"WHAT!" yelled Sarah, coming into the hallway with just a lacy black bra. "Who? No..."
"Rewind?" asked Kameron. The emotions that came washing off Sarah almost knocked Kameron on her ass.
"Do you remember when you were younger, when I was starting to study what your mother had said you might be? What you are?" asked Sarah. Panic rose in her throat. The Kindred knew about Kameron!
