Courtney Smythe yawned, she'd been up for almost twenty-four hours, toiling away at a new set of books that Eric Storm had sent her. They were on odd incantation of Hebrew and Latin, often making Courtney go back and start the translation over again.
"Court," called Fox Caster. Fox ran the Boston Kindred House and he ran it with grace and an iron hand. "I just found something you might want to look at. You remember Sarah Covington, and her daughter, Kameron?"
"Yes, I do," said Courtney, her deep blue eyes snapping to focus.
"Well, did you know that Kameron wasn't Sarah's daughter?" Courtney had known that, but had kept the fact hidden from her Kindred brethren.
Courtney smirked. "Really?"
"Her mother was Miranda Ambroise, nee Jamison. She died in childbirth and one of the nurses distinctly remembers her ranting during child birth that her husband had been a vampire and that her baby was going to be one also," said Fox. "Odd, isn't it? We were doing interviews with someone and this came up yesterday. I made the connection between you and Sarah when I ran the name through the data base."
"Odd? No, not really. Sarah was very interested in everything and anything having to do with vampires. Was rather miffed about not finding what she was looking for. Is that possible? For a vampire to sire a human child? Well, a half human child?" asked Courtney quizzically.
"I think it's time you took a trip to Dark Ridge, and found out, establish yourself there, say you've left the Kindred if you must. A human-vampire hybrid? A true dhampir? It has unlimited possibilities."
Courtney nodded. "Well, we had a human-vampire hybrid, but she's dead. I'll finish this up and start making arrangements," said Courtney.
"Yes, and remember, watch your back," warned Fox.
"I always do, and I watch my front too," smiled Courtney. "I'll have something set up by morning."
Fox nodded and disappeared out the door.

"God, it's almost 7," muttered Kameron as she and Peyton hustled through the woods. Peyton was having trouble keeping up with Kameron, who seemed to have much more grace than anyone she'd ever met before. Then again, Peyton had never met a vampire before.
"So what?"
"Sarah will be home and she's going to be pissed that I skipped school and...." Kameron stopped, turning and looking at Peyton. "...and I'm a little nervous about walking into the house after what we just did."
Peyton grabbed Kameron around the waist, and tugged Kameron close. "I'll go in with you, do you want me too? My last meeting with her didn't go that well. We can both sit down and talk to her."
"I don't think we'll be sitting down and talking, Sarah has a temper," said Kameron. "A real temper."
"Do you have a temper?" asked Peyton as they came to the tracks. They were almost at the threshold of the woods and would be at Kameron's back step in a few moments.
"Not really, only when...," began Kameron. "If I've been drinking."
"Drinking?" asked Peyton. "Please don't tell me I'm sleeping with an alcho..."
"...blood, drinking blood and not alcohol," muttered Kameron. "I never thought I'd utter those words to anyone. Sometimes when I drink blood I get pretty - animated."
Pulling Kameron's hand and forcing Kameron to face her, Peyton touched her hand to Kameron's face. "I'm not going to say anything to anyone, it's ok, we are cool. You and I are completely cool. As long as you bite me only when I ask you too."
