A Trip To Another Land

Chapter Two: The Ogre

"Good morning sunshine." Mulan said with a sleepy voice and a small smile, pulling me back into her arms to hug me. My face flushed when she kissed me softly on the cheek.

"Mommy!"

I looked up to see Joey sitting up and crawling over to me.

"Omma! Omma!"

I sit up, against Mulan's wishes, leaving her to wrap her arms wrapped around my sides as I pull Joey into my arms. He looks at Mulan on the floor and pokes her nose, she wrinkles up her face and sticks out her tongue at him. She sits up behind me and hugs me from behind. I smile softly and lean into her.

"Oh, you're finally up I see"

Ruby comes into the cabin and starts packing up. The rest of us get up to get ready and I go to change Joey's diaper and buriy the old one by a tree. I dress Joey and Ruby gives me an outfit to wear so I'm not walking around in my underwear in the forest. Joey demands to be able to walk instead of being held, I let him but he has to hold my hand the whole time.

Mulan stops us suddenly as we heard a twig snap, I quickly yank Joey into my arms to protect him. A giant ogre comes out into the clearing and sniffs around, swinging a giant stick around in its hand.

"Carefully move, don't make a sound or any sudden movements. He's blind so he can't see us but if he hears us he will charge." Mulan voice comes out in barely a whisper.

As we're backing up, one of us steps on a stick, alerting the ogre.

"Run!" yells Mulan as she grabs my arm and yanks me and Joey with her away from the ogre as he runs after us.

"Ruby, get them to safety!"

Mulan releases my arm and charges towards the ogre.

"No! Please don't go!" I yell as Ruby pulls us into the woods.

"When I change, grab my robe and get on!"

"But what about Mulan?"

"She can handle herself, she'll catch up"

I don't like the idea of leaving her but I listen to Ruby and put Joey on her back before grabbing her robe and climbing on her back. We get a good distance that if Mulan defeated him, she'd find us. I climb off Ruby and grab Joey and set him down, then i grab her robe and drape it over her. She transforms back into her human form. I sat and waited, keeping my mind busy with Joey. It seemed like we were waiting hours.

Soon after we hear a loud cry from the ogre, followed by a thud so big and loud the ground shook and birds flew out of the trees.I waited to see Mulan come running, after a bit, I didn't think she would. A few minutes later I see Mulan run to catch up with us, I give Joey to Ruby and run to Mulan, slamming my body into her arms as she wrapped her arms around me, tightly squeezing me.

"I was so worried, I didn't know if I would see you again"

"I wasn't worried, I knew no matter what, I was going to see you again."

We stayed like that for awhile, in each other's arms, not moving. I felt safe here, safer knowing she was unharmed.

(tppov)Earlier... Mulan charged after the ogre, leaving her lover and baby, along with her friend behind. She ignored her lover's words begging her not to go but she knew she must do this.The ogre roared, spit flying out of its mouth like a rabid animal. She drew her bow and pulled out an arrow. She lined the arrow on the bow, firing a warning shot at the ogre.

"Hey! Look over here, you big freak!" Mulan taunted.

The ogre roared again, this time he'd picked up a boulder and threw it in her area, she jumped to miss it. I need to get him on the ground so i can kill him, she thought to herself. Aha! She'd found some abandoned rope, like someone was making a swing but the ogre frightened them away. She grabbed the rope and made a line of the rope by tying to two trees, perfect for tripping large beings.

"Hey big and ugly, over here!" She hollered.

The ogre roared once again and charged towards the sound of her voice. She ran to a place that'd make it easier to get her shot. His ankle hit the rope, tripping him. His body moving to the ground very quickly, she took her shot and got him right in the eye. He let out a loud cry, then... nothing except the sound of his body hitting the ground.

She had nearly missed, what would have happened if she had missed? She would've never seen Anjel or Joey, or heck, even Ruby again, She collected her arrows quickly and ran to find her people. She followed giant paws prints belonging to Ruby. Soon she sees a clearing, and then, she sees them. No, then she sees her, running towards her crying. She holds her arms out for Anjel as she slams into Mulan's body, holding her close and squeezing her. Mulan wrapped her arms around her tightly, holding her close. She almost didn't get to hold her ever again.

"I was so worried, I didn't know if I would see you again"

"I wasn't worried, I knew no matter what, I was going to see you again"

She lied, she was very worried, terrified even, that she indeed would never see her again. One tears quietly makes its way down her cheek. She held Anjel so closely in her arms, knowing she did not want to let go.
