Chapter 6: Auditions

The final bell gave a loud, obnoxious ring. It was finally what everyone has been waiting for, the weekend. As for the glee kids, everyone was waiting for auditions. They were curious to see what others have prepared, and excited to show off what they themselves have prepared. Auditions took place in the auditorium. This year, Mr.Schuester allowed anyone who wanted to watch, come watch. The audition order was as listed:

"I don't recognize the last two names, they must be new kids." Finn told Kurt. Kurt just nodded he didn't really feel like bringing up Blaine right now. Kurt was just trying to focus on his Audition. In fact he didn't see Blaine in the auditorium, everyone who signed up for glee was in there. It was possible he was back stage, but that's only supposed to be for the next to people auditioning. Mercedes and Puck we're back there now warming up. Finally, Mr.Schue called up Mercedes, and the auditions began. Everyone was really good so far. Mike hardly sang, but his dance moves were out of this world. Kurt finally headed backstage.

"Rachel Berry." Mr.Schue called. Rachel strutted our onto the stage as if she owned the stage. Rachel began singing,

Something has changed within me

Something is not the same

I'm through with playing by the rules of someone else's game

Kurt absolutely could not believe what he heard. She was singing his song! She was singing Defying gravity! Finn was standing next to Kurt with an encouraging smile at his girlfriend's singing.

"Finn! Rachel stole my song! That was my song! Go yell at her or something." Kurt demanded.

"Woah dude calm down, it was probably a coincidence." Finn assured.

"No it wasn't! I told her I wanted to do that song, she didn't think it was a good idea, I stormed out on her, and then she STOLE MY SONG." Kurt screamed.

"Okay, that definitely wasn't cool on her part, and it'll talk to her, but it doesn't matter if you two used the same song. Everyone will think it's a coincidence like I did."

"Okay you're right. I just need to calm down and focus."

"Good luck man." Finn padded Kurt on the back and walked away. Once Rachel finished singing, she walked past him in the sassiest way Imaginable. Kurt walked up on stage, Blaine was now sitting in the audience. It almost gave Kurt a heart attack, but he cleared his mind.

"Hi I'm Kurt Hummel and I will be singing Defying gravity." Kurt didn't look at the faces of the crowd, he just looked up at the wall and sang as if no one were listening.

Kurt looked down only once during the performance. He saw Blaine's face staring at him in awe and amazement. That gave him the confidence to go all out and nail the perfect high F Kurt had been struggling with. Kurt finished the song and exited the stage.

"I'll admit Kurt Hummel, that performance was pretty good. Obviously, not nearly as good as mine." Rachel bragged.

"Really? Because I personally think I was better than you Rachel." Kurt snickered.
"I'm tired of you being so full of yourself, and that's why I won't be attending your sleepover tonight." Kurt walked away with almost as much sass as Kurt did earlier. Rachel got this really sad, pouty look on her face. Finn walked up to Rachel.

"Look Rachel, Kurt told me what you did and—."

"Finn, Kurt talked to me, again, and I feel really bad so there's no need to give me a lecture. I'm going to make it up to him." Rachel sat down and watched the rest of the auditions.

"Wow that new kid is better than half you lazy asses in here." Santana commented while watching Joe Hart's performance.

"Sure he can sing but all he cares about is Jesus." Quinn replied.

"Okay last but not least, Blaine Anderson." Mr.Schue announced. Kurt was really excited to hear Blaine sing. He had this huge smile on his face. Someone's singing can say a lot about the personality. Blaine was sitting on a piano, he started playing it and sang,

Kurt saw such Passion in hurts voice. It was like he really meant what he was singing. This made Kurt even more attracted to him. Kurt walked up to him.

"Wow Blaine! You were absolutely amazing out there. I had no idea how talented you were." Kurt said.

"Aw thanks Kurt. I felt the same way about your performance."

"Thanks!"

"So I'll see you on Monday then." Blaine said. He began to walk away until Kurt stopped him.

"Uh Blaine wait. Well, I have always wanted to learn piano and I was wondering if you could maybe teach me sometime? Private lessons are too expensive and we have a piano in my living room that no one ever uses." Kurt isn't really interested in learning the piano, he just wanted to see Blaine more and spend more time with him.

"Yeah sure sounds fun. How about Sunday at 2:00 and you can text me your address." Blaine suggested.

"Sounds good but I don't have your number." Kurt answered. Blaine handed Kurt his number and Kurt typed it in. Blaine did the same with Kurt.

"Cool, see you then!" Blaine said as he walked away.
