I stand on the beach, surrounded by palm trees. I see Jace and the mystery girl kissing. Then Jace turns around and says, 'I don't love you.' I turn around and see Sebastian. He says with his evil smile, 'But I will always love you.' I turn around again and run towards a tree. The tree disappears and I find myself running towards a cliff, like the one by the LA Institute. I fall over the edge and into an endless black pit in place of the ocean. I fall endlessly until I hit an invisible wall. 'To love is to destroy,' I hear.

I woke up on the floor, tangled in my sheets, with a lamp shattered on the floor. Emma and Isabelle burst through the door.

"Clary!" Isabelle exclaimed as she ran over to me. Emma flipped on the light.

I saw Julian poke his head in, too. "Everything okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine. I had a nightmare," I explained, my heart thumping loudly in my ears.

"Okay," Emma said. "I'll help you clean up the lamp."

I had forgotten about that. "Oh, thanks Emma."

Julian left and came back with a broom and dustpan. "Thanks Jules," Emma said as she bent down to help me.

We swept up all the shards as Emma asked me questions. "So where are you guys from again?"

"New York," Iz answered for us.

"Why'd you leave?" she asked, genuinely interested, not suspicious.

"My boyfriend, well, ex-boyfriend now, he..." I trailed off, trying to hold back my emotions. "He cheated on me."

"Oh," Emma said.

"We were pretty serious, too," I continued. "We saved each other's lives and sacrificed important things for each other and I thought we would last forever, but I guess not."

Emma thought for a moment, "Well if he cheats on you after all that, it's probably good that you're not together anymore. You're obviously way out of his league."

Twelve year olds say the most amazing things. I laugh, "Thanks Emma." I pulled her and Isabelle in for a group hug.

"Let's all go to sleep. We have training tomorrow," Emma said. "Oh! Wait tomorrow's Saturday. There's no training. Do you guys want to go to the beach?"

At the same time, Izzy and I both exclaimed, "Yes!"
