Shane's POV
Its now the next morning and I haven't really gotten any sleep. I can't get him out of my mind.
I was deep in my thoughts when I heard a knock at my door. I jumped.
I get up and open the door.
"Mom? Whats wrong?" I said. She was in tears and she had a bruise on her left cheek.
She came in and shut the door. She took a seat on my bed.
"Mom what's wrong?" I ask her again in a more serious tone. She avoided eye contact with me.
"He hit me." Her voice cracked.
"What?"
I know I heard her correct but I need her to say it again.
"He hit me." She broke down crying. I sat down beside her.
"Mom you need to call the police." I told her.
"I know but I can't. I just want to be loved. I don't want to be alone." She sniffed. I pull her into a hug.
"Mom you're not alone. I will always be here." I told her.
"I know." She said. She stood up and took a deep breath. Just as she was about to open the door, Lucas started banging on the door.
"Lucille! Can we talk?!" He yelled. I look at my mom and shook my head, telling her no.
I called the police.
"Go away Lucas!" She yelled back.
I can tell he was starting to lose his temper because the banging go louder and louder.
"Lucille! Come out now!" He yelled.
"Mom, no don't. The police should be close." I tell her.
I can hear the sirens coming down my street.
"You called the police?! Damn it!" I hear him yell. I hold onto my mom.
Skye was on my bed shaking while all of this was happening. I pet her on her head.
I hear the police storm in the door of our house.
"Put your hands up! You are under arrest."
When they put lucas in the back of the car, an officer came and knocked on my door. I got up and opened it.
"Sir you don't have to worry about him anymore. He is going into custody. Ma'am we need you to answer a few questions down at the police station." He said. My mom sighed and nodded.
Once they were gone, I calmed down Skye.
"Its Okay Skye. He's gone. And he won't be back." I talk to her. I hum and gently pet her until she fell asleep. I head downstairs.
My mom is sitting on the couch. I approach her.
"Mom? I thought you were headed to the police station?" I questioned.
"I'm going to go. Are you okay thought shane?"
"I'm fine." I replied. I take a seat on the couch.
"How could I be so stupid? I hurt myself and you. You must think I'm terrible."
"No mom. I think we all make mistakes and we can come back from those mistakes." I said. She placed her hand on mine and gave me a gentle smile.
"I love you Shane and I promise to mot let anything to get in the way of that." She said.
"I love you too mom." She pulls me into a hug.
