Shane's POV
Today's Saturday and I'm going to go home today to pick up and few things. Homecoming is coming up next week so I need to ask my mom for the money even though I know she probably won't give it to me.
I open the door with my key and I enter the house.
My mom walks into the living room.
"Oh shane." She said it as if my name was poisonous to say.
"I'm just here to get more clothes." I informed her.
"Okay." She replied.
"Can I have $40 dollars to go to homecoming?" I ask politely.
She looked at me like I just said something so rude that it hurt her feelings.
"No." She said while walking away.
"Okay. Whatever I'll just call dad." I said. I said loud enough so she can hear. She turned around quickly.
"What did you say?" She asked.
"I'm calling dad." I responded.
"You will not call your dad. If you do, I will-"
"What will you do? You already disowned me for being gay. There's nothing else you can do. So I'm calling dad." I said while heading upstairs to my room.
I pack some more clothes in my bag and sit down on the bed. I take a quick look at the family portrait that's sitting on my desk along with my laptop.
"How did we get here, dad?" I questioned.
~Flashback~
"Mom when are we going home?" Nine year old me asked.
She gave me a small smile.
"You don't want to play anymore?" She asked me.
I shook my head. "Hmmm what about ice cream?" She offered.
My face lit up like fireworks.
"Yes! Let's go!" I shouted while pulling her hand.
She laughed.
Little did I know that my mom was buying time for my dad to act while she wasn't there.
