Shane's POV
"I have to go Mom. Ari is waiting for me at her house." I told her. I hope she will let me go.
"We have to talk. Sit please."
I reluctantly sat down on the couch next to her.
"I don't even know where to begin. You're gay? What's that about?" She asked.
I sighed. "Yes I'm gay. Does it matter?" I ask her.
She looked at me with a shocked expression. "Yes it matters. My son is gay." Her voice cracked a little and I can see her cringe when She said the word gay.
"Mom you're being overly dramatic. I like boys. So what? I'm still your son." I reassured her.
She shook her head. "No you aren't." She said nonchalantly.
I felt like a knife stabbed its way into my heart. Like she carved my heart out, slammed it on the ground, stomped on it, and then spat on the remains.
I didn't cry. I didn't dare shed a tear. As much as I'm concerned, she's no longer my mother so she's not worth my tears.
"Okay. I guess I'll see you." I told her. I get off the couch. I proceed towards the door.
"Shane I'm not done talking to you."
"I'm done talking to you, Lucille." Then I left.
Once I made it to Ari's house, I made my way upstairs.
As soon as I made it into Ari's room, I broke down crying. She looks at me confused.
"What's wrong?"
"My mom just disowned me." Is all I could get out.
"Just because you're gay? Wow she's stupid. Its her loss Shane. Really it is. You don't need her in your life. You have me and my parents. I know its not the same but at least we are here for you." She comforts me as I just quietly sobbed.
"Did you want to eat? I put your food in the fridge." She asked. I shook my head.
We just lay there in silence as she comforts me.
A couple minutes later, I hear a ding from my phone. I sniff as I take it out my pocket.
"Its Ryan." I said.
"Ryan? The guy from the internet a d the guy in our class?" She asked.
"Yeah."
A devious smile plastered across her face. A smile that can rival the grinch's smile.
"There's nothing going on. He's straight."
I reassured her. She gave me a suspicious look. I rolled my eyes.
Are you still coming tomorrow?
-Ryan 7:00 PMOh yeah. I forgot. Just havg some family probls.
-7:03 PMHaving* problems*
-7:03 PM"What did he say?" She asked.
I hid the screen from her because she was trying really hard to see.
"Its not anything crazy. He just asked if I'm still down to come over tomorrow." I said with no emotion.
She squealed.
"You're going over? Omg omg omg!" She shouted.
"Don't get too excited. We have a project to do." I inform her.
