Sam's POV
"Sam.. I.. I.." Hayes stutters, trying to find words to fit what he's trying to say.
"Sam..." He says. Then he pulls a little tube of pills out of his pocket.
"WHAT THE FUCK HAYES YOU TRIED TO KILL YOURSE-"
"NO!! NO NO NO. No.... Ugh." He puts his hands behind his head and tugs at his hair a little. He takes a big breath, trying to calm down. I wait nervously for what he's going to say to explain the medication.
"That... Was the wrong thing to do. Sorry Sam.... Okay. Look, Sam. I'm. I sort of.." He starts, then huffs out in frustration.
"It's okay Hayes. Take your time." I say rubbing his knee.
"Sam.. So.. two weeks ago I went to the doctor to just get a check up. Nothing was wrong it was just appointment."
I sigh in relief. I was worried there was something wrong. I don't want to lose Hayes. Sure we haven't seen each other in awhile, but I can't not have him in my life.
"But..." He adds.
Oh my god. I don't wanna lose him. I can't lose Hayes. I try to hide my emotions but my eyes water.
"But..?" My voice cracks.
Hayes doesn't continue. He takes me into his arms and rubs my back.
"Sam.." he says softly. " I'm okay. Everything's fine."
"Hayes I can't! I don't want to lo-" I stop mid-sentence. My feelings for him are starting to get to me. No.
He releases me and wipes the tears that roll out of my eyes.
"Sam. Listen to me okay?" He says, taking my hand in his and squeezing it.
"I'm not going anywhere. But the doctor said I was diagnosed with something called a cerebellar tremor disorder. Sam it's nothing serious okay. All it is, is a little shaking if my heart rate goes up really fast or like, after a simple or little movement. Just a little shaking or tremble. That's all."
Hayes rubs the back of my hand. I'm a little confused, but right now I'm just glad he's not going anywhere.
"And.... These." I hold up the bottle of medication. "These help you?" I ask.
"Correct. They help keep the uhh, shaking from getting to out of control. The doctor said it's a good thing they saw it early. So it's all good Sammi. Nothing to worry."
Him reassuring me comforts me in every way. But I'm still kinda curious.
"How did they see it?" I ask.
"So you know those reflex tests they have people do? Well. They tested that, and I moved more than normal after the automatic reflex should've stopped moving. So they checked more reflexes and it turns out most of my normal reflexes had little tremors after them."
I sigh. "So since they were little movements, this um, disorder was found early?"
"Yes ma'am." He says.
"What about football? Can you still play?"
Hayes gets a big grin on his face. "Uh. Yeah. Duh."
I laugh. "Good. You know I'm gonna be on your ass about offense this year again" I giggle.
I look down, and then I realize he's still holding my hand. It takes a few seconds for him to realize it too, and he immediately pulls away.
"Sorry." He mumbles.
I bite my lip.
"I'm not in the mood for a movie now." He grumbles, changing the subject.
"Yeah. Me either. Wanna mess with Nash?"
"Ehh. He's boring." Hayes says. He climbs off the bed and goes to his closet and rummages around.
"What're you doing?" I ask, but he ignores me.
About a minute later Hayes pulls out his arm with a basketball in his hand.
"Let's walk to the park?"
"Sure." I smirk. "Can't wait to kick your ass."
He scoffs. "That's cute. You think you'll win."
I roll my eyes. "Yeah okay. And I'll still be cute after I beat your ass."
Hayes laughs. "Alright alright. Let's go." He says, putting his arm around me.
