The paramedics took Xuimin to the hospital and I wanted to go with him but Mother sat me down and told me that I had to stay home.

Kai went with the doctors to check on Xuimin.

"What has been going on lately, you've been very distant!" Mother said as she patted my head.

"I don't know myself Eomma, I really don't know." I replied as we sat in a sofa-type-chair swinging in our backyard.

"You're sure you're going to be okay, I know you saw a friend of yours wounded!"

"That's not the point, I don't want you guys to get hurt too, that seemed odd, why would someone hurt Xuimin and they did is near our house, don't you think it's a possibility that they might try to hurt us? The officer seemed certain that we were in danger!" I exclaimed holding Mothers hand.

"Na-young, we're going to be fine, I'm pretty sure it was some kid at your school besides the police had been here so the culprit won't dare to come here." Mother replied but I could tell that she wasn't sure.

"After she left I kept swinging myself to and fro thinking if I had done right by listening to Kyle. I hadn't told my parents anything and I knew that they needed to know, but Eomma would want to move again and I didn't want to lose more friends than I already had.

"It's pretty late and you have school tomorrow!" I heard a familiar voice,

I looked up and saw Kai. He was holding two cups and he sat down as he handed me a cup.
"Warm Milk, it will help you sleep, which you should be doing right about now!" He said as he smiled.

"You know, Father used to bring me warm milk when I couldn't sleep". I said as I sipped the milk.

"Na-young....I wasn't trying to be...." Kai began.

"You don't have to apologize!" I replied chuckling.

"Are you laughing?" He asked.

"I kind of like the fact that you remind me of my Father, you're pretty cool to be around you know?" I said astounded by my own words.

Maybe giving Kai a chance was good. I certainly felt like I did the right thing, and I wasn't regretting saying that so I think I was right!

"You're were a pretty cool person to be round from the start and you still are!" He exclaimed.

"How did you and Mother meet again?" I asked peering into his dark eyes.

"Well, we were introduced by your Uncle Kyungsoo at a restaurant, it was the most horrifying day of my life. I've never been good with women and seeing your Mother was nerve-wrecking, she was so gorgeous and beautiful and pretty....."

"Kai, all those words means the same thing and  please don't make this cheesy." I interrupted him.

"Right, sorry. She was really good-looking. And Kyungsoo hadn't told me that I was going to meet someone else there so when he left us alone, we were very awkward, I mean I was.

Your Mother wasn't as nervous as me infact she initiated the conversation and talked about our interest in music and sports, which we both don't like as much and from there on we began to get comfortable and began to like each other's company, to be honest, I knew she was meant for me from the moment she had said Hello and I will never forget that, she was so true, she mentioned you in our first date too, she had a "beautiful, admirable young daughter", those were her exact words so when I asked her to marry me, I accepted you as my own daughter and you are beautiful and admirable in your independent ways and you are a daughter that I always wished to have!" Kai finished.

I was so wrong about him, he was actually a nice guy, not to mention that he was never the one who stole Mothers heart, it was Mother all
along and the way she described me to him!

She was never sad that Father had gone, she was happy because of me and it was not like she wanted my life to be ruined, she just met this handsome, interesting and bubbly guy who made her laugh and decided to spend her life with him and I was starting  to see this!

Kai deserves a second chance, I had to see what I had missed. I wouldn't accept him as my father at all, that would never happen but just maybe, maybe. I could accept him as my stepfather after all. Maybe even a friend.

"You know, I like that you act like my Father because though you're not him, I don't miss him as much!" I blurted out.

"You should miss your Father, he was a part of your life but I'm glad that my affections don't hurt you!" He replied as he leaned in close to me.

"What's wrong?" I asked alarmed as his face was inches away from mine.

"Stay still sweetie!" He said as he raised his hand and wiped the top of my lip.

"You had a milk mustache," he replied as he giggled.

I giggled too because I knew how hilarious I must have looked with the mustache.

"I like that you've given me a chance to be apart of your family!" He added.

"Heh, hee!" I laughed nervously.

"I like that you've tried to be a part!" I said as I turned my gaze away.

"Cool, then you should catch up on your sleep!"He said.

I was really tired so I went in with him, i actually liked Kai. He was a good person then.

"Can I ask you for advice?" I said as I sat by him.

"I have a friend, who just got popular in high school and her friends don't talk to her, why do you think they treat her this way?" I asked.

"I don't think they want to, I was popular in high school too, but it could be that she is ignoring them and they might only be advising her for her benefit, Na-young, popularity isn't always right especially when it keeps you say from the people that truly matter and truly care!" He added.

I understood his words perfectly and I could tell who my real friends were. I went to bed planning to save my future with my real friends.
