The Truth

A bright light shined in my eyes when I came to be! It was really bright ! The sunlight was shining through my bedroom window. I realized that I had slept in my table.

That was an unshakable dream, Mister Hat Guy had showed up with Kai and he had penetrated the knife inside me, but the pain felt real and the first thing I did was clutch my chest and make sure that I wasn't bleeding.

"Na-young, Tell Kai that I can't come to the kitchen so he should cook breakfast today!" Mothers voice came.

I clasped my mouth shut and cried placing my hand on my mouth to muffled my cries.

She missed Kai, I can tell, what am I saying, I miss Kai too. He was a really nice person and a cool guy to be around!   He was very caring and warm and beautiful inside. If only, I'd stood up for him?

Why didn't I? He was a perfect guy for Mother! But why was I sad? Didn't I want him gone! Why did I care?

"Kai isn't here anymore!" I replied walking into Mothers room.

"Right, I guess I just forgot!" She replied calmly.

"Don't go to school today, please stay!" Mother said.

"There is no school today!" I replied as I sat by Mother.

"Why do I feel so guilty after letting Kai go?"She asked sighing.

I leaned forward and pressed my hand against her forehead.

"You're not sick! Maybe you need more time to rest!" I spoke. "I'll make some breakfast then." I added as I got up and Mother head my hand.

"You don't think I did wrong, do you?" She asked.

"Kai lied to us both, we were fooled and I'm glad that his true self came to us!" I whispered and left.

My eyes were sore from crying and I didn't want to cry anymore. I made scrambled eggs and carried them upstairs to the room.

Mother was on her laptop, she was watching something.

"What are you watching?" I asked.

"Nothing, just a movie that Kai and I watched". She replied.

"Is it okay if I head out for a bit, I need some air!" I called.

Mother nodded and I went out. I couldn't stand that atmosphere anymore! Kai wasn't there, it wasn't quite like home.

I breathed the air at I walked towards a bus stop near the house. I've never used the bus since I live really close to school, I didn't intend to use it that day either. I just sat and looked at people, who boarded the bus and the ones who got off.

A man in a red long coat sat by me.  He had a newspaper in front of his face and he was reading it.

"How's life?" He asked.

"Sad, without you Kai!" I replied.

He put the newspaper down and looked at me.
"So, you know who I am, aren't you scared?" He asked.

"You did nothing wrong right?" I asked.

"Why would I do something like that to my own daughter, I'm sorry, my stepdaughter!" He said.

"Kai, what's your deal? Why are you acting like that?" I asked rage in my voice.

"Just take care of your Mother for me!" He sighed.

I held his hand. "Kai, she misses you dearly, please come home!" I urged him surprised as the words that came out of my mouth.

"Then why didn't you tell her that I wasn't at fault?" He asked.

"I just didn't know what to do and I ..... I guess I wanted you out of my life then but I knew as soon as you left that I made a mistake, please come home, I'll confess but I can't imagine life if you're not in Mothers life!" I said. The last part was mostly lie but I meant the other part.
He looked into my eyes.

"She'll never believe me now!" He spoke as he began to read his newspaper.

"But......" I began,

Was this what he had felt trying to make me realize that he wasn't going to hurt us, he had shown me nothing but care and love and I had shown him nothing but hate, I couldn't believe how I had been so rude to him when because of him I had gained friends and he made me happy, not to mention, he made Mother happy!

"Na-young, I'm glad I found you!" We heard a voice.

I looked and saw Kyle smiling at me. He had a car. It was all black and pretty cool.

"Kyle! What are you doing here?" I asked as he came  out to greet me.

"I was just driving to your house, what are you doing?" He asked smiling widely.

"Nothing, just getting some fresh air!" I replied.

His smile made me smile too even though I was sad.

"Luhan wanted to see you for something, he told me to get you, shall we go?" He said.

"Luhan! Why didn't he just......" I began.

"I don't know!" He shrugged his shoulders.

"Will you come?" He asked shyly looking towards the ground.

"Sure, it has to be about the assignment!" I said.

Kyle nodded and then opened the door of his car.

Kai held my hand, "Take care", he said and shot me a warning glare, unless it was worry for Mother.

"I will!" I whispered.

"Is that man bothering you?" Kyle asked.

"No!" I replied and got into the back seat of the car even though Kyle wanted me to sit in the passenger seat!
