Chapter 2

''You've reached the voicemail of Colson Baker. I'm too busy to answer y'all. Leave a message and maybe I'll bother to call ya back.'' The voicemail told Alexis for the fifth time that week.

''Colson, it's me. Again. You've never called me back. We really need to talk. Please call me... Bye.'' Alexis had said through the phone before ending the call and dropping her phone.

It had been a month since Colson left for L.A., she hadn't heard from him since. She was going crazy without him. She missed him, she needed him.

Absentmindedly she rubbed her slightly grown belly. She couldn't believe she was expecting a baby from Colson and she couldn't even tell him, since he wouldn't be bothered to call her back. It hurt her more than anything.

On top of that, her brother was in surgery at this exact moment and she was of course very worried and scared something would happen to him. They had always been very close.

The ringing of her phone interrupted her thoughts. She was hoping it was Colson or the hospital with some good news, but soon saw that it was her best friend Emma.

''Have you seen it?'' Emma immediately asked.

''Seen what?''

''Colson. He is like famous now. He got the record deal, his first song is going viral and on top of that... it looks like he is dating again.''

A sob escaped past Alexis lips as she covered her mouth. She didn't even bother to reply, before hanging up, to see if it was true. His first song was a duet with the singer Camila Cabello and he was already dating her.

That is how little he must've cared about Alexis.

The 'I love you's' meant nothing.

She threw her phone across the room, she couldn't stand seeing him with someone that wasn't her. She couldn't stand it that she meant nothing to him. She couldn't stand it that she let him in and that she let him hurt her.

At that moment Alexis decided in her rage that he didn't deserve to know about his unborn child. She blocked his phone number and prayed she would never see him again.

Alexis had barely slept. The flashbacks and memories kept playing in her head. Colson has hurt her so many times and she still wasn't over it. She doubted if she ever would get over it.

However she did wonder if she did the right thing; not telling Colson about Lily. He was hard to contact and it wasn't an easy story to tell, but he deserved to know, right? At first she didn't think so, but seeing him made her overthink and relive the entire situation.

She added a good layer of make up to hide her lack of sleep, before waking up Lily. She would turn five soon, so today was her first day of school. To say that Lily was excited was an understatement.

Together they picked a cute outfit and as Lily got dressed by herself, Alexis made her some breakfast. Lily liked to feel independent. While she was eating Alexis brushed Lily's brown curly hair. She had her mother's hair, but she definitely had her father's eyes and character. It was creepy how much she reminded Alexis of him sometimes.

Just thinking about Colson made her stomach churn. She was scared of what would happen if he would find out. She was scared he wouldn't want her. She was scared he would get mad and would try to take her away from her.

All different scenarios and all bad... she had no idea how he would react. This had led to many sleepless nights. Including this one.

''Okay, go brush your teeth and then put on your shoes and coat, honey.''
