All I felt was heat.

I felt as though I had been set on fire from the flames. All I could hear was incoherent screams back and forth. My nostrils burned from the smell of alcohol and my lunges heaved from the dense air. Feeling as though they were about to collapse.

Finally I opened my eyes as a pair of strong arms picked me up, carrying me bridal style in the opposite direction.

I looked over his shoulder to find the griever that was once above me in flames and falling to the ground. There was glass shattered around it, from what I assumed contained the alcohol thrown at it. Thomas and Minho were running behind us.

Newt crashed through the homestead, the door slamming shut once everyone was inside. He ran to the back corner shoving everyone out of the way so that he could set me down against the wall. All I could do was stare wide eyed at him from the shock of what just happened.

"Carly! Carly speak to me! Are you hurt!" The panic in his voice was clear as he assessed my body, looking for any injuries.

I could only faintly here the other voices because I was focusing on his face, focusing on how he was alive and safe. He was with me.

"Is she alright?" It was Thomas's voice. His face appeared next to newts and I felt that familiar feeling in my chest again when I looked at him, like I knew him from somewhere, but couldn't remember where.

"I don't know, she won't talk." He said shakily. He looked like he was on the verge of tears, his eyes never leaving my face, "I think she's in shock. You were too close with that bottle Tommy! Any lower and you would have set her on fire instead!" He growled.

"What'd you want me to do? Leave her there and let that thing rip her to shreds." He protested, exasperated.

He ignored him, focusing on me again as I breathed heavily. Even though I was away from the fire and smoke I still couldn't breathe. It's like my body hasn't caught up with my mind yet, like it still thought I was back there with the griever.

"Carly please say something! Talk to me, love! Anything!" He pleaded.

I came back to reality at his pleas, hunching over forward in a fit of coughs. He rubbed my tense back as I did so, holding me up so I could breathe easier. Once I caught my breathe I slumped into his side, lolling my head against the wall.

"Carly? Love? Are you alright?"

"Yes." I breathed.

"Oh thank god!" He rested his forehead on mine in relief for a few minutes before realizing what I'd just done, "What the shuck were you thinking! How many times do we have to have this conversation because I don't think I can take this much longer!" His voice broke at the words.

"I'm sorry." I whisper.

He looks angry but he pulls me into his chest anyway, cradling my head. His breathing is heavy and jagged and I know that he's scared. Like me. Although I'm only scared of losing him.

"Yay we're all together, unfortunately so are the grievers and their right outside." Just as Minho said this a huge bang was heard from outside as dust fell from the ceiling.

Newt pushed me behind him, taking a protective stance in front of me, holding his arms out from his sides. I grab his biceps from behind, pulling him into my chest so that we were standing the farthest away from the door. If one of the grievers got in here I did not want him running to help. As selfish as it was I couldn't lose him.

There was another loud bang causing the structure to shake and more dust to fall from the ceiling. I didn't know if it would hold. How long before we were crushed by the weight of the second floor and ceiling crashing down upon us?

They were trying to claw their way in from the outside. Everyone tried staying quiet but it was hard when they all kept pushing and shoving each other around so that they could be the farthest away from the scratching sound.

Suddenly all the noise ceased. Everyone held there breath.

"Are they gone?" Chuck asked from the middle.

Everyone began to slowly stand up.

It was too late to do anything else.

A claw came crashing in through the wall grabbing chuck by the leg, and pulling him through.

Thomas was the one to act, grabbing his hand as he pulled him the other way, "chuck don't let go!"

"No shit!" He screamed. It would have been comical if not for the situation he was in.

Just as his grip on Thomas started to slip, alby came out of nowhere hacking the arm off of the griever who screamed in response, before reaching backing in and grabbing alby with a different arm. Thomas ran after him, but alby wouldn't grab on.

"Get them out Thomas." That was the last thing he said before the grievers pulled him through the gap, disappearing into the maze.

Everyone stood shocked, before running out after him.

I gasped at the damage. Buildings were on fire, along with the rest of the fields, meaning we no longer could grow any food. The buildings that weren't on fire were falling apart from grievers breaking through them. A few bodies scattered the ground and I had to hold back bile at the sight of them.

I looked over at newt, who looked like he was about to cry. His eyes were red-rimmed and his hands were shaking. He just lost his leader and more importantly his first friend. I couldn't imagine what he was going through. He saw me staring and limped over to me, pulling me into a tight hug, "We're okay."

"We're okay." I said back. That gave him all the comfort he needed to relax as he became less tense in my frail arms.

Out of nowhere gally came running up, punching Thomas in the face.

"Gally what the hell!" I screamed, running over to help him up.

"This is your fault! You did this! If you hadn't come up here alby wouldn't be dead right now."

"Gally that's ridiculous!" I scream jabbing a finger at his chest.

"You did this too! Don't think your not to blame!" He spat grabbing my wrist tightly.

"Don't bloody touch her!" Newt yelled pushing gally back, while pushing me behind him.

Gallys eyes flared, "Who says your in charge newt? Huh?"

"I'm in the second in command! Which makes me next in line!"

"I don't think your worthy of that position! You don't even do your job, you just play with your little worthless girlfriend!"

Newt was getting angry but luckily Thomas interjected before it turned bad, "Maybe your right gally, maybe I am bad. But I cant know for sure unless I get my memories back."

"What are you saying?" Minho asks in confusion.

He doesn't answer. He just grabs the arm that alby chopped off to save chuck. I realize it had the grievers stinger on it. Before anyone had time to react, he plunged it into his stomach, instantly collapsing to the ground with a groan.

"Get the grief serum!" I scream as Thomas passes out, while gally begins to take charge.
