🌑Jughead🌑

I woke up Monday morning and looked at my phone.

One missed called from an unknown number with a message at 3:45 am.

Okay, whatever.

I got ready for school as usual.

I got off my motorcycle at school, I saw the firebird pulling up.

Out got Archie, out got Veronica, but no Betty.

Veronica looked upset, and as they got out she broke down crying and Archie came up and hugged her.

I felt my blood run south.

I ran up to Veronica, freaking out.

"She, she didn't- she... she didn't." I choked out. I couldn't possibly bear to say it.

Then the unthinkable happened.

Veronica hugged me.

She hugged me, crying into my shirt.

"She's gone." She sobbed.

I felt tears prick my eyes. I hugged Veronica back.

"Someone took her out of her room." Veronica finally said.

I sighed in relief.

"Oh my god. I thought she-"

"No no no, she didn't, uhm, someone climbed in through her window."

"Oh my god." The call. It was probably Betty.

"I got a call last night." I said, swallowing.

Archie and Veronica both turned and looked at me. "What?" They said in unison.

"Yeah, really really late, 3:45 in the morning. I thought it was a prank. It was an unknown caller. They left a message." I said.

"Oh my god! We have to listen to it!" Veronica said, hope on her face.

I went to my phone messages and pressed play on the newest message.

We hear crying, it was Betty's.

"He didn't answer." Betty's voice said.

"Oh boo hoo, boyfriend troubles?" I heard a mans voice that I didn't recognize. "I told you you couldn't have a boyfriend, Betty. I might have to punish you."

"Oh my god." Veronica said, putting her hand over her mouth.

"Please, no! You don't understand!" Betty sobbed through the phone.

We heard someone hitting her five times, then we heard Betty softly sobbing.

I looked over at Veronica and saw that she was now crying again.

"Shit, the phone's still on the call. Well, whoever gets this, just know I've taken your girl, you little bitch, and there's nothing that you can do about it. She's never coming back."

The call ended.

"We have to take this to the police, right. now." I said, already running back to my bike.

When we got there, we saw the Lodges talking to sheriff Minetta, and they looked surprised when they saw us.

"Mija! You're supposed to be in school!" Hiram said sternly.

"No Dad, you have to listen to this." Veronica replied.

After listening to it, sheriff Minetta scratched his head in thought. "Well, it definitely sounded like they knew each other. Who would feel the need to punish Betty?"
