I walked through the door with my head low. I actually liked Hiram and Hermione, and I'm kind of sad that they're kicking me out now.
"Well well well." came Reggie's voice as I closed the door.
"Oh, shove it, Reggie." I heard Hermione say.
I looked up, shocked that Hermione was standing up for me. I saw Hiram sitting at the head of the table, Hermione on one side, and Veronica and Reggie on the other side. Veronica had an ice pack on her nose, and she was giving her mother icy glares from across the table.
"So, Betty." Hiram began. "It has come to our attention that you and Veronica have been having numerous disagreements, in school at out of it."
"Yeah, I guess." I mumbled, looking at my feet.
"And, while I don't agree with your decision, I understand why you chose to beat the living shit out of my daughter." he continued.
I looked up in shock at him. Veronica's mouth was wide open, and her and Reggie were both staring open-mouthed at Hiram. Hermione had her head in her hand, trying not to laugh.
"Now, you are still welcome to stay here, if you want. But I would appreciate it if you and Veronica could put your differences aside and become friends." Hiram said, and got up from the table and walked into the kitchen, followed by Hermione.
"I can't believe that just happened." Reggie whispered, his mouth still hanging open.
I walked over and sat down across from Veronica, and moved the ice pack away from her nose to reveal it and part of her face badly bruised from our "fight".
"Listen, Veronica. I'm really sorry I went after you. It's just, my dad is a very sensitive topic, and when you brought it up just to hurt me over something so silly, I couldn't really help myself. I hope you can forgive me." I said to her.
"Yeah, whatever it's fine." Veronica said, getting up from the table and walking up the stairs to her bedroom. Reggie got up and followed up after her, looking down at me the whole time, trying to be intimidating.
I just rolled my eyes and walked upstairs to my own bedroom. I felt my phone buzz in my pocket and looked down to see a text from Jughead.
Jughead❤️:
How are things in castle Lodge?
Me:
Just fine, surprisingly. lol.
Jughead❤️:
Oh? I'm coming over.
I smiled to myself as I walked back down the stairs, waiting for the familiar black motorcycle to pull into my driveway.
A couple minutes later, I noticed that Jughead still hadn't pulled up in the driveway. Confused, I just walked upstairs to my bedroom.
An hour passed, and Jughead still wasn't here. I'd texted him multiple times, but he didn't respond.
After a couple more minutes, I called Toni.
"Hey." I heard Toni say, she sounded drunk, or high, one of them.
"Where are you?" I asked her.
"Basement of the Whyte Wyrm. Why?"
"Is Jughead with you?"
"Nah, he and some other serpents left because there's some Goolies that are really threatening their safety or something. They're off to go fight." I heard her say.
