Our only chance to save the kingdom... Our only chance to survive...
Sir Raymond glanced at the others behind him for confirmation. They were hesitant to agree but they finally nodded. I could tell that they have no other choice but to hear my plan out.
"So, what is your plan? Please don't tell me that you're going to find the good witch. Look at what you've done instead. Serafine was set free because of your reckless actions!" Sir Raymond stated and backed away from me. He sat back down at his chair and Sir Ayser, the royal advisor, gestured his hand for me to continue.
I walked closer towards the table and took a deep breath.
"We don't stand a chance against Serafine. She's too strong. To save our people, we need to evacuate them to a safe place. I think that all of you would know which safe place I'm talking about, am I right?" I asked.
"You must be out of your mind." Sir Ayser chuckled.
"No.. I think that his idea is reasonable. I mean, it's the highest chance for our people to survive." Sir Raymond agreed with me.
"But that place is ancient! Nobody had ever went there before. It might not be safe. Perhaps, it might be impossible to find it!" Sir Ayser argued.
The room starts to get noisier as they argued about the evacuation plan.
"Silence, please!" I shouted.
They looked at me with closed mouths, not daring to say a word.
"I know that I'm a weak and useless king. However, I would do anything to ensure my people's safety! Trust me, please..." I begged.
All of them nodded reluctantly.
"My father used to bring me there when I was a child. I know how to find it. So please, don't worry. My friends are currently helping the people to evacuate. In a matter of time, they'll be ready to move there." I stated.
"I hope that you fully understand the risks you're taking. Since we have no other choice, we'll have to agree with your plan." Sir Ayser stated.
"After all of the people were evacuated, the royal knights shall hide in every area of the kingdom to make a sneak attack. We would have a better chance to attack her when she's unaware of our presence. The marquess shall continue defending the border lines of our kingdom. Although we have to defeat Serafine, we still have to be cautious of Ethaletha's army. Our main plan... Is to protect our people. Don't let the enemy come anywhere near the safe place." I explained.
All ten of them stood up and bowed down to me.
"We pledged our loyalty to our king." Sir Ayser said followed by the others.
"For Laricienne..." Sir Ayser patted my shoulder before leaving the room along with the others, except Sir Raymond.
"Niel, I'm truly sorry for what had just happened. You have become stronger. Not physically, but mentally. I know that it's hard for you, being the new king with all of these responsibilities.. But you had managed to keep your feelings aside in order to protect your kingdom. If your father was here, he would be so proud of you." Sir Raymond pulled me into a hug.
"I've heard of what happened to Adalinne. It's such a shame to loose such a good knight like her. But she was the person whom had released Serafine. I know that you're going to save her while we are busy preparing for the war. But I forbid you from going anywhere. I'll have two knights to look after you. Just to be clear, Adalinne might've already died, or she might actually be a traitor to our kingdom. Don't trust her too much." Sir Raymond warned.
"But Adalinne is my friend! She did not release Serafine. I watched her with my own eyes. She's not dead! She can't be.. She's strong enough to survive..." I cried.
"Even if Adalinne is not a traitor, just know that Serafine uses dark magic. She might use Adalinne to kill you. So please, be careful." Sir Raymond stated before leaving the room.
What Sir Raymond said is true. Even though Adalinne had never meant to do anything bad, Serafine might use her against me.
My eyes teared up and my hands balled into a fist. I angrily punched the wall and started crying. My right hand starts to bleed but I don't care about it. The pain in my heart is far greater than my bleeding hand.
There's no way that I can save Adal now...
