The dream kept repeating and stopped at the exact same moment every time. I've gotten used to it that I didn't care about it anymore.
After several days, my head had fully recovered and Sir Raymond had finally allowed me to join the knights' training.
I woke up earlier than the others and went to the kitchen. I ate an egg sandwich before I started training. Its been awhile since I used my bow, and I really missed training with Aunt Ana. I wonder what she's doing right now. She would usually clean the training grounds for us but now that we're not home, she might still be asleep. I hope that she's alright.
I went to the archery grounds and started shooting my arrows to every target. Every arrow I shot hits a bullseye.
Suddenly, someone clapped his hands and frightened me.. Again... These people should stop giving me heart attacks!
"Very impressive, for a girl of course!" Sir Raymond approached me while crossing his arms. "I guess I underestimated you before. But what you did was not enough! You need more practice, your arm was not straight enough, your posture doesn't look stable, you took a long time to shoot and your breathing was not consistent! All of this tiny little things would affect you later in battle! Fix it now or face death in the battlefield!" Sir Raymond ordered seriously and left.
He pointed out all of my mistakes with just one look. He is definitely on another level than any of us here. He may be annoying but I respect him for his battle skills.
As I was practicing, I could see a tall boy about several years older than me with dark brown hair walking towards me. "Hi, you must be the new girl. I'm Jacob. You can call me Jack. I'm an archer too. If you need any help, just ask me." the boy introduced himself with a sweet smile. I guess not all knights are mean.
"Hi, I'm Adalinne." I answered as we shook hands.
"You did pretty well just now. Sir Raymond rarely compliments someone. Especially a girl. Maybe that's why he's still single!" Jack joked.
"Really? It hardly sounded like a compliment." I stated.
"Hey! You're the girl whom tried to kill Sir Raymond right? Shame on you!" a rough man's voice suddenly echoed through my ears and his laugh made me extremely furious. I turned around to look at him and saw that he's a bald man with a tanned skin. He's really big and bulky.
"Look guys! Another girl joined the party!" another man told the other knights.
"Stop it, Brook!" Jack warned the bald man. I ignored them and continued my training.
However, the bald man approached me and pushed me down. "Ignoring us, huh? You're in our place here, so you gotta follow our orders! Weaklings like you girls don't stand a chance in the battlefield! Maybe you're better off as baits to the opponents." the man threatened me.
"I'm warning you, if you hurt my friends again...," I glared at him and continued, "I'll do worse to you..." I smirked as I walked away.
"Worse huh!? Let's see how you can manage that!" the man challenged me to a fight.
He positioned himself in a combat style and waited for me to get ready.
"Pick on someone your own size! Are you seriously going to challenge a girl not even half your size to a fight?" Jack provoked him.
"So? I would've already used you as my punching bag if you weren't Sir Raymond's nephew! Now step aside kid!" the man bellowed.
Wait, Jack is Sir Raymond's nephew? Thank god that I didn't say anything bad about his uncle. That explains the similar hair and eye colour.
The other knights started to gather around and chanted for us to fight. "I'm not fighting you losers, it's a waste of my training time!" I ignored their booing and walked away until a voice stopped me.
"Consider it a training! I've wanted to see your capability and this fight could show your combat skills. Don't worry, I'll make sure that he won't kill you!" Sir Raymond insisted.
"Uncle! She wouldn't stand a chance against Brook!" Jack rebuked.
"What's going on here?" Tiffany asked as she and the other girls walked towards us.
"Adalinne was challenged by the strongest knight we have to a fight!" Sir Raymond enquired.
"You don't have to do it Adal, you've just recovered!" Tiffany stated as she pulled my hand. Roselle, Elianor and Susanna agreed with Tiffany.
I couldn't let the knights treat us badly forever. After I saw how horrible the girls looked like after their training, I need to put an end to this.
I smiled at them and mouthed 'I'll be fine'. I could tell that they are worried of me but I won't let them down again.
"I'll accept your challenge! But on one condition! If I win, all of you should stop treating us badly!" I declared.
"Fine by me, you're not going to win anyways!" the man snorted.
"Adalinne, you don't know what this man is capable of! He's a monster!" Jack shouted worryingly.
"Hey! Watch your words, kid!" the man warned.
"Well, none of you know what I'm capable of!" I smirked.
