Ever since the mission in Cuba Bucky had been hesitant to leave Natasha's side. At night he would seek her out using the excuse of nightmares, during the day it was harder.

Some days she would be the perfect sarcastic, snarky little sass bomb, acting as if everything was normal. Other days she would become closed off and withdrawn, returning to her true assassin state. When it was really bad not even James could bring her out.

Today, thank goodness, was not one of those days. Tony had introduced the kid from Queens as Spiderman aka the baby avenger (according to Sam). He was completely star struck by everyone and gazed at Bucky's arm with awe.

He caught Natalia laughing at him as he uncomfortably let the kid touch his arm. The boy kept lifting it up and turning it around, muttering something about physics. Every now and then he would make little whooshing noises as he swung the arm. Bucky shifted awkwardly he really wanted the kid to leave him alone but could understand his fascination. Finally Natalia took pity on him.

"So you're spiderman?" The kid dropped Bucky's arm immediately and faced the Black Widow.
"Yes ma'am." She raised an eyebrow at him and crossed her arms. "I'm sorry I'm super nervous Miss Widow?, miss spider lady? Wow you're scary." She rolled her eyes.
"Cut the formalities kid."
"Ok, well hi I'm Peter." He walked forward and extended his hand shyly. She smiled and shook it firmly. "Wow you have a firm grip."
"Powers?"
"I can stick to anything and shoot people with webs."
"Combat?" He rubbed his neck embarrassed.
"Um not very good."

A Cheshire Cat grin spread across Natasha's face as she uncrossed her arms. "Well, that's going to have to change isn't it." Before Perer could protest she had grabbed his arm and dragged him away, all they heard were a few pitiful Mr Starks.

Cap and Bucky shared a glance, Natasha training new recruits was never ever a good idea. They both rose and headed towards the gym, followed by Sam who claimed it was going be a relief to see someone else's ass kicked for a change.

When they got there Peter was warming up as Natasha wrapped her hands. Sam protested, "she never wraps her hands when she's training with us." She just ignored him and motioned for Peter to get in the ring. He climbed in hesitantly and adopted a sloppy stance, Natasha just shook her head and circled him, adjusting what needed to be corrected.
"Keep all your tension here." She touched his stomach. "Spread your weight evenly and stay on the balls of your feet. Since you're small you should have an easier time moving around your opponent, use their size against them."

She stood opposite him. "Punch me."
"What?"
"Punch me. Don't hold back if it's a good one then I'll dodge it."

Peter hesitantly made a jab which barely touched her. She sighed impatiently and grabbed his arm, throwing him over her shoulder. He yelped as he hit the mat and they all jumped up at the sudden speed. Natasha hauled Peter to his feet and made him do it again. The others relaxed slightly and drifted over to the shooting range. Obviously Bucky did better but it was hilarious watching Cap and Sam try to outdo the other.

In the ring things were getting better it was only when Peter shouted in triumph that they all whipped their heads around. "You told me to play dirty," he said. Natasha had both her hands webbed together.
"So I did." She smiled grimly before looping the web around her wrists and yanking him towards her. He flew across the mat and she twisted out the way, wrapping the webbing around his neck and pulling him close with her knee in his back.

The kid groaned as he got back up and staggered towards a water bottle. Natasha gave him a 5 min break whilst she ducked out the ring. No one was looking so she let her fingers tangle with Bucky's for the briefest of seconds. He smiled at her as he left the gym. "Don't go too hard on him ok?"
"No promises soldier." He felt Steve walk next to him.
"Fancy a run?" 10 minutes later they had already cleared the perimeter of the compound and were laughing as the cadets shot them poisonous looks.
