Natasha woke up on something soft. Her head pounded and the sunlight pouring in through the window did nothing to help. Wait, a window. Natasha shot up and clutched her head in agony. She placed her feet on the soft floor and stood up, using the bed for balance. Her toes curled and uncurled feeling the carpet beneath them. The whole room seemed to follow a theme of dark green and dark wood except the walls, which were a light stone.

She made her way to the window and peered out. There was no chance of jumping, she was at least 100ft in the air and the window was made of reinforced glass and chicken wire. If she tried to punch through it her hands would be shredded. Looking round, she saw other precautions had been put in place. For example all the furniture was bolted down and only furnished to look like wood.

Natasha leapt back in surprise when she faced the opposite wall. A giant red hydra skull (an octopus actually but lazy logo designers obviously couldn't be bothered) glared sinisterly down at her. No matter which way she moved the empty eye sockets seemed to follow her.

"Ah good, you're up." She turned to face the man in the doorway and raised her hands ready to fight. "Ah ah ah, none of that. We don't want anyone to get hurt now do we?" Another man came in through the door, dragging a girl. Her wide frightened eyes darted around the room but she didn't dare move as the man had a gun barrel pressed against her head.
"Alexei what are you doing? Leave the girl alone." He just chuckled.
"You know I can't do that Natalia, otherwise how else am I supposed to get what I want from you willingly?"
"What if I don't do what you want me to?"
"Then the girl dies. It's not hard Natalia."
"And when she dies? What then?"
"I use more girls."
"And if all of them die?"
"Then you are the heartless monster they trained you to be and Hydra will have no reservations on wiping you and forcing you to comply. Now I don't think it will come to that because I know you are far too compassionate. However, if it does, just know that from then on I will control everything you do and there's nothing you or anyone else can do to stop me."

She shivered at his words and straightened her spine. "Do you understand Natalia."
"I do."
"Good, then we can start by you wearing this." He revealed another white box with a green ribbon. He gave it to her and she opened it cautiously. Inside lay a delicate white gown. Her wedding dress. She looked at it in disgust and tossed it on the bed.
"I'm not going to wear it."
"Why?" He demanded.
"Because I'm not some doll you can just dress up and play with."
"You are mine and you will do as I say." His tone was icy, bordering on dangerous yet she continued to disregard him.
"I am a person, a free person I do not belong to you."
"DAMMIT NATALIA! YOU ARE MY QUEEN AND WILL THEREFOR ACT AND DRESS LIKE MY QUEEN." He slammed his fist on the desk and let the rage take over.

She moved backwards in fear as he strode towards her. She attempted to duck around him but he turned around and grabbed a fistful of her fiery curls. He yanked her towards him and punched her in the face. Her nose cracked and spurted blood she gasped at the pain and tried to kick him off. He just slammed her to the ground and stomped a foot into her side. The white hot pain of broken ribs took over her senses and she crawled away. The little girl was screaming for him to stop but he ignored her as he picked up the assassin by the front and tore off her coat. "You will obey me." He then clicked off the safety of his gun and shot the girl without even looking. The screams fell silent and Natasha choked on her own blood. He threw her to the side and turned his back on her. "Clean that up." He ordered the soldier and Natasha watched as the girls body was dragged away. "I expect you to be dressed by the time I return." He glared coldly at her. "Will that be a problem?" She shook her head. "What was that?"
"No. It won't be a problem." He turned to face her again and crouched by her side. He gripped her chin and when she tried to pull away he only added more pressure. "See, you're learning." He drew away and she spat a mixture of blood and saliva at him. He slapped her and she saw fractured stars splitting behind her eyes. "Or maybe not. But don't worry my dear, there's plenty of time. And if not, there's always plan B. You can follow the same path as your soldier, but this time, no defects." He left her and slammed the door shut. She heard the lock clicking and a bolt being drawn across.
"C'mon James, you gotta help me here." She whispered quietly, clutching the dog tags.

She used her fingers to probe the flesh around her ribs. It was tender but not too bad, however when she poked a rib her whole side erupted into fire. Yep, definitely broken she thought. She counted maybe 3 broken ribs, a broken nose, fat lip and black eye. And that was just on the first day. Hopelessness engulfed her and she just lay still letting the tears fall. She couldn't even find the energy to wipe them away.

Alexei's threat still hung over her head so, with a heavy heart and lots of cursing, she dragged herself into the adjoining bathroom and turned the shower on as hot as it would go. The scalding water beat down unmercifully on her wounds and she grit her teeth to stop any sound escaping. The water ran in rivulets down her skin and she imagined it washing away the poison of Alexei's touch.

When she was done, her skin was pink and raw but her mind was refreshed. She'd reset her nose in the mirror and tried to clean up the blood. Unfortunately nothing could be done about the black eye. She wrapped a towel around her body and another one twisted around her hair. She went over to the bed and picked up the discarded dress. It shimmered in the light and Natasha couldn't help but think it really was a beautiful dress. It's a shame she's wearing it under such circumstances. It was a backless, floor length gown made of soft silk and secured by four glittering straps interweaving. Natasha stepped into it and towel dried her hair. There was nothing else to do but wait for the dragon to return.

A/N So a little bit more violent but I did warn you. I've been trying to update every two days but I'm going to France on holiday. No internet I'm afraid. Enjoy this chapter a day earlier as an apology. The art at the top has little relevance to this chapter but it's a cute/sad au.
au revoir ma cherè's :)
(Excuse my French, I know it's appalling.)
