The sun peeked over the horizon, the only people up this early are the hard working mothers, fathers, and the birds.

Danny awoke to the vibration of the bed. He looked up with drowsy eyes, Kiana was standing at the foot of his bed. She was was in the process of changing from the t shirt he gave her to the clothes she had on last night.

"Hey, you know you don't have to leave so fast. Why don't you stay a little while longer."

"I'm sorry Danny, last night was a mistake I shouldn't have come. I don't know what I was thinking."

"Kiana slow down, listen you don't have to apologize. I told you I'd always be there for you no matter what, and I meant it."

Danny quickly stood up to face her. He placed one hand on each of her shoulders, rubbing them trying to ease her thoughts.

"Please just stay a little longer so we can talk. Why are you lying to yourself saying we are just friends. That you don't feel nothing between us I don't buy it."

Her head hung low, she knew if she looked up to face him she wouldn't leave.

"There's nothing to talk about Danny, you've moved on and so have I. Let's not turn nothing into something, no need to hang onto the should of could of would have been. Thank you for being there for me, but I need to go."

As soon as those words left her mouth, she turned and left without a second thought. Danny sat on his bed, hands over his face as thoughts rushed through his mind.

He loved Kiana, but he was with Maria and strong feelings were starting to emerge for her too. But Danny couldn't stand the thought of Anthony with Kiana.

At that moment Danny's phone started vibrating from a message coming in. He reached for his phone and opened the message.

Maria: Morning babe <3, I was thinking of you all night. how'd you sleep?

One month later...

It's late Friday afternoon, Danny and Trevor are in his room playing NBA 2k.

"Damn Trev Is it just me or did summer fly by."

"I don't even want to think about that, school is just two weeks away. Don't think I don't know what you trying to do either, trying to break my concentration from this ass whooping."

Danny's phone began to ring it was Maria, so he paused the game to answer.

"Hey babe what's up?"

Danny walked out the room because Trevor kept talking shit in the background.

"It's Friday my parents are going to be out of town, so I was wondering if you wanted to come over and chill tonight."

"Most definitely, I'll be over around nine is that cool."

"That's perfect, I can't wait to see you. Bye."

"Hey Danny you better get back in here and take this ass whooping like a man," Trevor shouted out.

Danny walked back took a seat next to Trevor and Unpaused the game. "Who was it," Trevor asked still concentrated on the game.

"It was Maria, her parents are out of town so she wants me to come over and keep her company."

Trevor immediately paused the game. "Hold up, it's Friday night, parents are out of town, and she asked you to come over. You know what that means right?"
