I killed her.
I took a lock of her amber hair before I buried her. Keeping her body for much longer wasn't an option since she began to decompose. Her skin was pale, close to transparent, as I soon began to see blue veins mazing throughout her body. The smell grew unbearable l; my home repulsive, no matter how much or how often I'd use bleach.
Even though I loved her so much, she had to die. If I didn't, she would tell. She would tell everyone, and I couldn't let that happen. If she just kept her mouth shut, maybe she'd still be in my arms and with me.

"You can't do this!" Her voice was loud as she tried to storm out the room, but my grasp on her arm was strong and left a purpling bruise, "Let me go! Now!"
"You need to keep your mouth shut, Valerie!" I yelled back at her, my voice much louder than hers, "I don't want to hurt you, you idiot!"
"Hurt me? You'd seriously hurt me, Skylar?" She turned to me, her large emerald eyes looked at me with tears brimming and ready to fall, "You really are psycho, aren't you?"
"I'm not psycho, you bitch!" My heart raced with anger as I clenched my teeth. The urge to grab the lamp that stood beside me and bashing it over her head grew more and more.
"Skylar! Let me go! You're hurting me!" Valerie tried to squirm away from me, tears now falling along with terrified gasps of air.
"If I let you go, you'll tell! You can't tell!" I shook her arm violently and she wailed in pain, falling to the floor and weeping hysterically.
"Skylar, baby, I promise you, I won't tell..." She looked up at me, our eyes locking, "I won't tell, I won't tell, I won't tell..." She continuously mumbled the same words over and over again.
My face turned stern and emotionless as I looked at her, examining her. She laid on the side of her legs as her arm remained in my hand, stretching out. Her strapless dress had fallen a little too low around her breasts as the blue shirt looked slightly crinkled, the dark blue, flower skirt draping over her shaved legs. She had left her black heels at the door, but her feet still looked to be in pain from walking in them.
"Please..., please..." She whispered quietly through her tears, "Just let me go... I promise, I won't tell..."
As I looked into her eyes, I could see them trembling. I growled as my grip on her tightened, "You lying bitch!" I yanked her arm upward, making her body rise as she yelped in pain, "Don't you fucking lie to me!"
She screamed and, without hesitation, I grabbed the lamp beside me and knocked it over her head. She fell unconscious instantly and I let go of her arm, her body falling to the ground looking almost lifeless. I looked at her, not even a pinch of regret in my stomach. She was going to tell and I had to keep her from doing so, no matter the costs.
A knock came from my door and panic quickly rushed through my bloodstream. I looked back down at Valerie, who still laid unconscious, and bit my lip. I couldn't just leave her there because she would have the chance to escape. The knock came again and I walked out of the den quickly, closing the two large doors behind me and locking them in place by the handles with an umbrella that stood nearby. I shook the door to check if it was secure enough for a temporary amount of time before heading to the door, taking a deep breath as I opened it.
Greeting me was a neighbor, Tammy. She was older than me, in her late thirties, and was far too interested in the business of others. Her chocolate hair was styled into a perm as she wore a light pink, silk nightgown with a matching over coat and fuzzy slid-on slippers.
"Hey, hun, is everything okay over here?" She had a concerned look that was obviously forced as it was easy to see a smile tugging at her lips, "I heard screaming-"
"Everything's fine, Tammy." I snapped, a cold sweat running down my neck, "You can go."
"Oh, are you sure, dear?" She continued her worried act, "I swear I heard screaming. You and Val in a fight?"
Taking another deep breath, I forced an innocent smile, "Oh, no. Not at all. Just a uh... a movie. Val likes to have the volume on high when we watch scary movies. I'm sorry if it bothered you, Tammy."
Tammy chuckled and swatted her hand in a playful motion, "You see, Carl and I were thinkin' you two were doin' one of your odd lesbian things. We still aren't really used to having someone of your... preference... living next door."
Holding back an offended growl, I kept my innocence charade, "Well, Tammy, I should really get back to the movie. Val's probably missing me by now."
"Oh, alright, hun. Have a good night!"
"You too, Tammy!" I closed the door behind me and let out out a large sigh. My hands felt jittery and my heart couldn't stop beating. I took a shaky breath before rushing back to the den and removed the umbrella from the brass handles. Swinging the door open, I saw that Valerie was up and trying to open a window frantically, probably hoping to escape before I returned. A crimson stream ran from the top of her head and down the side of her cheek. She looked dazed, but was obviously still alert of the situation. Valerie turned to me, breathing heavily with fear in her eyes. She pushed herself from the window and backed into a wall that stood beside the lite fireplace.
"I-I swear..., this-this isn't what it looks like!" She tried to reassure, but again her eyes shook, "I-I needed air!"
My eyes narrowed as I stomped to her, wrapping both hands around her neck, "You are a lying cunt! You tried to leave me! Why-why wound you leave me...?"
"Because you're crazy, Skylar!" She shouted back with a trembled voice, "You hit me with a lamp! I was unconscious! I could've been dead! What the fuck do you mean 'why would I leave you'?"
I gulped as I looked down, my hands still firmly around her neck, "I-I still love you, Valerie.... I don't want to lose you..."
"'Lose me'? You lost me the moment I found the d-"
"Shut up! Shut the fuck up!" I pulled her close to me by the neck and slapped her back against the wall harshly, "Stop being a little bitch!"
Valerie wailed in pain as she clawed at her neck, gasping for air and turning slightly blue, "S-Skylar! Let me-let me go!"
I refused and tightened my hold on her neck. My face turning hot from anger as I saw her eyes flutter and her body weaken. She soon stomped moving, but I knew she was still alive. Her stomach still rose and fell from her small breaths and I knew I hadn't choked her enough to kill her. Instead of watching be body drop, I carried her, putting her legs over my left arm as her back rested on my right, her head hung back as well and the red marks from my hands were clear to see. I carried Valerie to my basement which was dark and damp, but small. I didn't have anything in there besides a couple empty boxes and old junk that I didn't put in the house.
I set Valerie down on the dusty floor as I pushed over a large wardrobe that covered a hole, which lead to a hidden hallway, in the basement wall. Picking her up again, I carried her down the dark hallway, which wasn't illuminated at all, into a whole other room which was nothing but a spring bed and empty dish bowls. I placed Valerie gently on the bed and closed the large wooden door to the room, leaving her and I alone on the secluded room. At this point, I was calm and felt in a natural state. My breaths were steady and my body didn't shake. I looked over at her and felt a twinge in my heart. She looked so beautiful and graceful as she laid on the bed, she always did, but she was terrified. Terrified of me. She had a right to be, of course, but if she hadn't been so snoopy and threatened to tell, things wouldn't have to come to this...
I stayed in the room with her for hours until she came to once again. Once she saw me, she scrambled to the head of the bed on pushed her back against the wall. I suppose she wasn't going to have a break from fear of me.
