My Secret Affair

Working, Thanksgiving and finding out the truth

After school I went to work today was story time so after everyone left there was juice and popcorn on the floor so I spent the rest of the time cleaning when I heard Carter's mom I turned around in surprise "Carter didn't say anything about you getting a job?'I was confused " I thought you and Carter were in Florida?" she shook her head no "we never left anywhere."

She didn't say anything she just said bye and left, later that night when Mitch picked me up I told him that Carter and his mom never left, you could tell that he was pissed, so we got Juniper and went to my house and we started watching Netflix.

The next day I left Juniper with my parents and went to talk to Carter when he saw that it was me he made a disappointed look "what are you doing here?" I was shocked by the tone of his voice "well you told me that you were going to Florida and then I run into your mom and she told me that yall never left.

He didn't say anything "can I tell you something?" I looked at him " one night when you were asleep Mitch had text you and I delete it," he didn't say anything he just turned and walked back inside but before he closed the door "are you planning on seeing your daughter?" again he didn't say anything he just closed the door.

I was annoyed so when Mitch picked me up I turned to him " so apparently you had to text me in the summer and Carter had to delete it," he just looked at me with a shocked expression. We didn't say anything we just went home.

We had one more day of school then we had three days off for Thanksgiving Tim and his husband are going to New York to visit their family so the store was closed for the week, on the last day of school I was in Art I saw Mitch walk by so I asked Mr. Higgins if I could go to the bathroom, when I got to the hallway when Mitch saw me he pulled me into the supply closet and we started making out.

Before we got too far Mitch pulled apart "I'm going to be spending Thanksgiving with my mom," he didn't say anything I just nodded and went back to class, at the end of the day I was putting my books away when Carter walked up to me "Annalise I'm sorry about the way I've been acting and for what I said."

We hugged and I started walking to the bus stop when he pulled my arm back "let me give you a ride!"

so we started walking to his truck whenI turned and saw Mitch staring at us for some reason I startedfeeling guilty.

Later that night Carter went home andJuniper was asleep and I was watching Netflix when Mitch called me itwas quiet for a while when he spoke up " I think we should stopthis affair" I agreed and we hung up.

Since it was Juniper's firstThanksgiving she got to try some baby food I was feeding her while mymom was finishing up the food, Carter and his parents had gottenthere so I was setting the table when my mom walked in " oh sweetieI forgot to tell you that Mitch and his parents are coming over,"once she said that I almost dropped the glass, she kissed my head"great my ex and my boyfriend together in the same room this shouldbe fun."

Everyone was watching the game whenMitch and his family walked in Carter gave me an ugly look but whenhe saw Mitch hug me and play with Juniper he looked pissed, so I wentinto the kitchen to help my mom when Mitch walked into the kitchen Iturned and looked at me " I thought you were going to your mom's?"he looked sad "she forgot and made plans with her boyfriend."

We hugged and finished setting thetable, it was time to eat and the only spot available was betweenMitch and Carter,Juniper was asleep in her playpen the livingroom,once everyone was finished they were watching tv while I wasputting up the left over away and washing the dishes,when Mitchwalked in "can I take back what I said last night."

We finished the dishes and startedcutting the the pie and making the coffee, while everyone was eating,Carter was helping me put Juniper to bed, then he and his familyleft,while our moms were talking Mitch and I were sitting on theporch swing " it wasn't as awkward as I thought it would be!" Iturned and looked at him and started laughing.

The next week life went back to crazy,on Friday I was putting my books away and getting ready for lunchwhen Aubrey walked up to me "Annalise can we talk?" I nodded andwe went outside to the bench and she turned to me " do you rememberwhen I told you that I had sex with Carter and now I'm pregnant."
