A Good Thing

There was a time when it seemed too hard to take
It had gone on for far too long
Wondering when relief would take effect
But none came promptly along
To my surprise indeed
It was instead a wonderful blessing
That through my deepest hurt and need
The Lord turned my suffering into a good thing
No longer did it impair
But it became a strength
No longer was I in despair
My heart had begun to mend
It brought me closer to Him
It made me understand who He is
Greatly am I in awe of Him
Making my life what it is
