Chapter 1-

They paced the floor frantically in opposite directions. As she went left he went right, trying to stay out of each others way but also trying to calm their nerves.

They stopped in their tracks when they saw Dr Smith slowly stepping out of room 23 and into the halls, covered in blood.  He opened his mouth to speak but he just couldn't get the words to come out. He didn't know how to say what needed to be said.

"How is she?!" Her mother asked with hopeful eyes. "I-" Once again Dr Smith was stuck. His heart raced as Tatt stepped up close to him. In all the years he has known Tatt he never saw him like this. There was a look on his face that he never showed before. Fear.

"Can we see her?!" Tatt semi yelled growing annoyed at the doctors silence.

It was time. They had to know. He swallowed hard then began to speak, hoping this time he'd actually be able to get the words out. "Tatt I'm sorry-" Before he could complete his sentence he was cut off by her mothers piercing scream. "NO!"

She shook her head staring at him as tears streamed down her face. "I'm sorry we tried to save her, but it was too late. We couldn't stop the bleeding." By now Tatt was in his own world. Curled up into a ball on the floor. He said nothing but the silence itself said a lot. He was broken.

"No you're lying!"  Her mother continued. She was convinced the doctor was wrong, her baby girl was a fighter. "I need to see her."

Dr. Smith nodded. "Of course." He started leading her to the room and Tatt jumped up following behind them causing her to spin on her heels shaking her head. "No not him. I don't want him in there."

Tatt clenched his jaw trying hard to contain his anger. "Tina not now, not here." He tried reaching for her arm but she pulled away, punching him in the process. "Get off me! It's all your fault everything! If it wasn't for you my daughter would still be here! Alive!"

"You killed her."

Nicki-

"There's Aaron." My best friend Leilani smiled pointing to her boyfriend Aaron who was waiting for her across the street. She waved at him then turned her attention to me. "You remember what I said right?" I rolled my eyes. "Yes!" She planned on spending the weekend with Aaron but told her mom she was staying at mine, the plan was to say she was either sleep or in the bathroom if her parents called.

"Okay here." She handed me her books and school bag before running her fingers through her hair. "How do I look?"  "You look fine Lani. Now go" I hugged her goodbye and watched as she went over to him. As I looked on, I briefly made eye contact with Aaron's older brother Tatt who had recently been released from jail. He smiled and winked at me. I quickly turned away and started walking home.

I was greeted by my mom once I arrived home. She looked up from her book and smiled at me. "Hey baby. How was school?"

"Ok." I shrugged. "Hold on. What's all this?" She stopped me from going up to my room and looked down at Leilani's bag I was carrying. "Uh I was holding it for Lani. I forgot I had it." I lied. I hated lying to my mom because I was bad at it first of all, secondly we was close, I told her everything, so not telling her the truth made me feel like shit.
