Chapter 9
Tatt-

"Let me take you out tonight. Just me and you." I said to Nicki. We was on FaceTime with each other while she did her homework. "Where?"

I shrugged. "To a restaurant or something." I didn't know where to go and I didn't care, I just wanted to see her. "You're always feeding me. It's like you're trying to fatten me up." She giggled.

"Nic Nic." I heard someone say. Nicki looked over at the person and smiled. "Hey baby. Come." She put the phone down and held out her arms to whoever she was talking to. I frowned, who was she calling baby?

I heard movement in the background before she picked up the phone and her little brothers face appeared on the screen. "You remember my friend Tatt, the one that brought you ice cream?" Nicki asked Jayden as she pulled him into her lap.

"Yeah and he beat up that guy." Jayden said. There was a awkward silence until he turned to her. "Can we go to the park?"

"Okay I'll take you tomorrow-" he cut her off. "No I wanna go now."

"I can't Jay, I've got homework see." She said and pointed to her laptop screen, showing him her incomplete essay.

"Every time I call you you're doing homework. Have a break baby and take your brother to the park." I said. "No he can wait until tomorrow."

"TATT!" Tez yelled and peeped over my shoulder at my phone. "Oh wassup Nic." He nodded at her. "Hey." Nicki waved. "T we got a little problem." Tez whispered to me. I nodded and looked back at Nicki. "Baby I-"

"I know." She mumbled. I ran my hand over my face and sighed after seeing the disappointment in her face. "I gotta deal with this then I'll call you back."

"No it's fine, you don't have to I can see you're busy. Bye Tatt."

Nicki-

"Where have you been?" Leilani asked me when I entered the classroom and took a seat beside her. "In my house." I replied.

"I hardly see you anymore." She pouted. "That's because you're too busy laid up with Aaron to remember anybody else." She was always complaining about never seeing me when she was the one who was busy with Aaron all the time.

"I can't help that my man treats me good and I'm in love." She grinned. I reached in my bag and pulled out my folder. "Here." I said as I handed over to her.

"What's this?" She frowned in confusion. "Your report on The Cold War." I shrugged. Leilani gasped. "Omg I forgot all about this!"

"I know that's why I did it for you. You're welcome."

She threw her arm over my shoulder and pulled me into a hug. "Thank you! I owe you one. I really wasn't in the mood to hear one of Miss Parkers lectures."

"Speaking of the bitch." I looked up to see her walking in with a smile on her face. "Good morning class." Miss Parker smiled.

"Everybody get their reports ready to be handed over." The class started mumbling amongst themselves trying to get their excuses ready. "Nicki can you go around collect them for me please?" Miss Parker asked me. "Okay."

After I collected everyone's work and handed it to Miss Parker I went back to my seat next to Leilani. For the remainder of the lesson I was sat listening to Leilani brag about how much Aaron spoiled her and that she loved him.

"Class dismissed." We stood up and started packing away our things.

Just as we was about to leave u heard Miss Parker. "Leilani and Nicki stay." Leilani sucked her teeth. "We didn't even do nothing." She said and I nodded in agreement.

"I know."

"Then what do you want to talk to us about?" Leilani asked. I leaned against the wall and let Leilani do the talking as usual. "Exam season is coming up and I wanted to check how you guys were coping with revision and everything."

"Thanks for the concern but you know I don't like you right?" Lei asked. "Oh you've made that very clear over the last year."

"So what do you want?" Leilani asked rudely. "Lei you're gonna get us in trouble." I whispered to her as Miss Parker pulled her phone out of her pocket and showed us her screensaver which was a picture of a teenage girl. "This is my sister. She was 17 and was killed last year."

"I'm so sorry." I said quietly.

"She was with her boyfriend when they got caught up in a drive by... He was into gangs, drug dealing and in & out of jail... like Tatt and Aaron-" Leilani cut her off. "What does this have to do with us or them?"

"You both have a bright future ahead of you and I don't wanna see the same thing happen to you because you're hanging around with a pair of thugs." This was the second time she was warning me to stay away from Tatt, maybe I should actually listen.

"Thanks for the advice but we gotta go. Come on Nicki." Leilani grabbed my hand and pulled me along with her. I looked back at Miss Parker who was shaking her head as we left.

"Didn't I tell you that bitch was crazy. I think she's obsessed with us." Leilani laughed as we walked through the halls towards the exit. "And I don't know why she's tryna compare us to her dead sister because first of all, who we talk to isn't any of her business, second we ain't stupid."

"But what if she's right." She stopped in her tracks and turned to me, frowning. "What do you mean?"

"What if we continue associating with Tatt & Aaron and something happens to us?" I asked.

"Don't let that bitch scare you Nic. You're safe, I'm safe, we're good. Now let's go get something to eat, I'm hungry."
