Chapter 4-
Tatt-"Sing baby!" I laughed at Harlem as she sang and danced to the music. "Aye." I cheered hyping her up.
The doorbell rung loudly followed by the sound of my mom shouting from her room. "DOMINIC GET THE DOOR!" I stood up and looked back at Harlem who was still in her own little world singing. "You good here?" She nodded reaching into the bag of chips and stuffing a handful in her mouth.
I opened the door revealing Cindy who was leaned against the door frame with a smirk on her face.
(Cindy)
"What are you doing here Cindy?" I asked dryly. She bit her lip and looked me up and down seductively. "I haven't heard from you in a while. I missed you." She ran her hands down my chest. "And I know you missed me too. Can I come in?"
"I got my daughter here." I told her. I was working all week and didn't get to see Harlem, so I was making it up to her, this weekend.
"So? You got locks on the door right. Let me in." She tried walking past me but I pushed her back. "Go home. I'll call you later okay." Sighing loudly she tilted her head to the side and grabbed my hand. "What's up with you T?" She asked softly. I grabbed her wrist and put her hands back by her side. "You're not fucking listening. I said I'll call you when you're needed now. Get from my door." I quickly closed the door before she could say anything else. I wasn't trying to hear her voice anymore.
I started walking back to the living room when someone knocked on the door again. I pulled it open roughly, getting ready to snatch Cindy up. "I told you to go-Oh Wassup." I said to my cousin Tamika.
(Tamika)
"Wassup? You don't fucking answer your phone no more!" She said with an attitude as she pushed past me and entered my house.
I closed the door and followed her into the living room where she and Harlem were already having a full conversation. Well Tamika was the one doing most of the talking whilst Harlem was busy eating. "I'm saying. You starting to look more and more like your daddy. Y'all twins for real."
I sat next to them on the couch and scooped Harlem into my arms. "Where's A?" Tamika asked. "It's his girls birthday tomorrow. I think he's gone to get something." I told her and she sighed deeply with a disappointed look on her face. "Oh." She mumbled lowly.
"What did you need him for?" She shook her head and took Harlem from me, running her fingers through baby girls curls. "Mika what did you need him for?" I asked nudging her. "Nothing Tatt. Leave me alone." She whined pushing me away. "Not until you tell me why you wanted Aaron."
"Fine! Damn T you're mad annoying."
Tamika-
"I'm waiting for you to tell me what's up." He said. "That nigga Q stopped paying child support, I went to see about it and he fucking hit me." I finally told him. "He put his hands on you?!" He yelled and I noticed him ball up his fist in anger.
"Calm down. See this is why I don't tell you shit." Before I knew it he jumped up from the couch. "Watch her." He said pointing at Harlem. I quickly shook my head, stopping him from leaving. "Don't go over there and do something stupid. That's why I wanted A." Unlike Tatt, Aaron understood that everything didn't have to be solved with violence.
"Aaron would've done the exact same shit I'm about to do!" Tatt argued. I sucked my teeth at him. "Nah. He actually listens. All I want you to do is scare him a little. Don't put your hands on him that's still Kams father." I warned.
"I thought I heard your voice." Tatt and Aaron's mom said as she walked into the room. "Hey Auntie Jada." I waved.
"You staying out of trouble?" I laughed and nodded yes. When I was younger I was always getting into trouble in and out of school and She was the one who sat me down and got me acting right. "I hope so."
"I'll be back in an hour." Tatt interrupted.
•
An hour later I was still at Auntie Jada's house. I was in the middle of braiding Harlem's hair when my phone started ringing.
"What Q?!" I yelled. "I'm sorry. I should've never put my hands on you." He apologised and by the tone in his voice I knew Tatt went over there. I rolled my eyes, I swear I hated this nigga. "Yeah you shouldn't of. I still want my money Q." I hung up just as Tatt walked through the doors.
"You still here?" He looked surprised. "Yeah. Q just called. Thanks." I gave him a loose hug, letting go when I heard the door open and Aaron came walking in with a handful of bags. "Finally! Where you been all day cuz?"
"Buying up all this shit." He sighed gesturing to one of the Chanel bags he was holding. "You really love her." I teased. Aaron had real commitment issues and this Leilani girl was the first girl I've known him to be loyal to.
"I wanna meet the girl who finally tied you down." She had to be real special for Aaron to be going all out for her birthday. "Oh yeah? Come to her party tomorrow."
"I'll see." I shrugged looking down at the time. "Anyway Tasha's got Kam so I gotta get back. Auntie! I'm leaving!" I yelled out to her as she cooked in the kitchen. "Okay. Kiss my baby for me." She replied.
Tatt-
"Have you spoken to Nicki since last week?" Aaron asked me once Tamika left. I shook my head. "Nah. I tried calling her but she won't answer."
"Well you know she's gonna be at Leilani's party." He hinted for me to speak to her tomorrow. "I thought you didn't want me talking to her." I frowned."At first I didn't because she's innocent & all like a little baby but I see you're really feeling her. So you might as well give it another go." He continued. "Try talking to her one more time tomorrow but if she rejects you again, let it go."
"One more time."
