She lifted up her head and looked into my purple eyes.

"So does this mean we're dating?" I asked.

"Only if you consider it," she smiled.

I smiled and held her close to my body, "I promise you, Y/N, I won't let anything harm you."

"Is this a promise you can keep?"

"I'll try my best. But you know there will be times where I can't get to you. Time is not my best friend. Time is no one's friend."

She giggled, "You got that right."

We walked back to the house to find Axel patiently waiting for us. He walked over and licked Y/N's hand. She smiled and rubbed his head. We walked inside and she got dinner ready.

"Thank you, Envy," she said quietly.

"I should be the one thanking you."

"Why would you be thanking me?"

I walked behind her, wrapped my arms around her waist, and rested my head on her shoulder, "You gave me a chance when I thought you wouldn't. So thank you for seeing past the beast inside me."

She turned around and kissed my cheek, "You're not a beast, Envy. You're just a unique person with unique abilities. If it weren't for your regenerative powers and immortality, you'd be in the hospital and you would never have been able to fight those men head on. I couldn't ask for a better person to fall in love with."

"How long?"

"Hmm?"

"How long did it take for you to fall in love with me?"

"When I first met you."

"Really?"

"When I saw you countless times at the cafe, something went off inside me. Like it was always there, but never felt until I saw you at the cafe. I just had to tell you something about who I was. Like there was a voice inside my head saying this is the person of your future."

I smiled and kissed the top of her head, "Sounds like you were meant for me."

"We were meant to be together. In past lives, in our present life, and in our future lives."

"But I don't want to keep meeting the same incarnation of you. If I would have, I would have had the wife I had be with me. But now, I get a second chance to have that." I whispered the last part to myself. She smiled and set dinner on the table. We sat together and Axel ate underneath the table. "Can you show me around tomorrow? It seems everything has changed since I was around."

"It is basically the same. There is a new area that they're working on. I can take you over there tomorrow."

~A couple weeks~

A couple of weeks had passed by and there was something off about this entire city. I felt this weird vibe when I walked past an alleyway. I stopped for a second and walked down it. I could feel something was not right here. I tried to do more searching, but I had to get back to Y/N's house, since I was carrying groceries with me. After a couple days pass by, I walked there in the middle of the night. Y/N was dead asleep and didn't hear me leave the house. I made my way back to the alleyway and searched some more. I walked to towards a wall and pressed a brick. The brick slid inwards and the entire wall opened up and revealed a secret passageway. There were stairs going down to lead somewhere. I walked down and continued as some light made its way into my vision. I walked closer and saw there was a gang of people. They had the same emblems on their jacket as the guy who tried to kidnap Y/N. I went back to hiding in the shadows and listened to their conversation.

"We were this close from getting him!" one bulky guy yelled and pounded his fist onto a table, causing drinks to fly up.

"Look, we'll get him next time. Right now, we need to focus on where he's most vulnerable," one said with long hair. He had his arms crossed and it looked like he was the leader of the gang.

"You mean the girl?" the bulky one asked.

"Yes. That is where he is vulnerable. We will attack her first and bring her here. He wishes to meet with her."

"You don't mean," the bulky one started.

"Yes, you all know what I mean. To be able to complete what we want to do, we need both of them."

"Why do we need the girl?" the bulky one asked.

"Because she's the only confirmed human to be reincarnated. Reincarnations don't happen so often. There might be another, but she is the confirmed one from the government. She's vital to this mission. As well as him."

"Do you have a plan on getting them?"

"I do, but it will be tricky."

I went to turn away. I wanted to turn away. But my feet froze me in this position, forcing me to listen to their conversation even further. When I did finally snap out of it, I turned around to see another bulky guy behind me. I went to yell, but he grabbed my mouth and wrapped his big, meaty hand around my neck. I struggled trying to get out, but he walked out from the shadows and walked into the light.

"Boss, we have some unwanted listeners," said the man.

The leader turned around and smirked, "Just the man we need. Or should we say, the homunculus we need."

He walked over and dropped me onto the ground. I coughed and looked up at him, "I don't know who the hell you are, but you leave us alone!"

"How much did you hear?"

"All of it," I said.

He smirked and bent down in front of me, "Do you know who I am?"

"No."

"Well, I guess you could say I am a descendant from a homunculus known as Greed."

"What?"

"Yeah, you didn't know? Before he was turned into a homunculus, he loved a human. He married her and had my great grandmother. After that, he was transformed into a homunculus. And my great grandmother had my grandmother and she then had my father. And from there, my father met my mother and sadly, they're both dead. So I am going to take back the family I once lost."

"Why do you need us?"

"You have a philosopher's stone inside you. I can use yours to return Greed back to me. As for your girl, we just want her dead because she's trying to find us. She works with the government and she's trying to track us down."
