Ch 3: I'm Sorry
“ Jake I-,” I started, pushing away from the injured boy as Jake stood there glaring at him. He cut me off as I went up to him quickly, my heart pounding in my chest so much that it felt like it was in my throat.
“ Don’t bother. I heard everything and I certainly saw everything too,” he snapped, turning his accusing gaze to me. It was softer than the glare he had gave the boy, but I could see the burning anger he was trying to keep hidden from me.
I shook my head in disbelief when he stalked away through the trees and went to the fire and I felt anger boiling inside me so much that I followed after him as my cheeks started to burn also.
He glared at me, “Don’t you know how stupid it is to follow a pissed off shape-shifter?” he snapped, but I growled at him in response. His eyes widened a fraction as he stared at me in shock.
“ I am sick and tired of you! You cant just be fine with me one minute and then be all angry like this!” I said, but he growled as he stalked towards me and I didn’t back down as I met and held his narrowed gaze.
“ You kissed someone else, I think I have a pretty damn good reason to be pissed,” he snarled lowly, but I growled lowly, surprising myself once again.
Where the hell are these growls coming from?
“ Why would you get angry when we aren’t even together? Its not as if you like me,” I snarled, our faces inches away from each other as neither of us backed down from this argument. His eyes burned an unnatural shade of bright green as he never commented against what I said and I stilled, staring into his eyes as I suddenly got why.
He did like me.
I growled as I shook my head, starting to say something angrily when it hit me. I stumbled back a few steps as warmth spread throughout my body, and I closed my eyes as my lips parted, Jake taking a step closer as he studied my face with worry in his unnaturally bright eyes.
I put my hand to my head as everything started to spin around me, my body beginning to overheat. I wanted to take my clothes off I was that warm.
Before I knew it, I was falling but someone caught me easily before I hit the ground and I looked to see Jake as he slowly lowered me onto my back. He stilled as he inhaled my scent, his eyes closing briefly before opening with something like lust in them.
The boy got closer as Jake tilted my head back while holding my upper body off of the grass, his hand fisting in my hair as he inhaled my scent, his lips running up and down my neck and shoulder. He let out a small growl that was almost like a purr and I shivered as he ran his tongue over my neck once. He purred again.
“ Jake…,” I breathed, and he slowly let go of my hair while holding me to his chest, allowing me access to his neck. I purred my delight as I rubbed my cheek against his neck gently, making him lick and bite my cheek playfully.
I whimpered softly as he pulled away while I was sniffing his neck, but he met and held my gaze as he moved to be sitting three metres or so away from me. I pouted at him and he licked his lips, his eyes trailing over my body slowly.
“ Its better if you know what’s going on with you before we do anything you’ll regret,” Jake said, making me nod slightly in agreement as I swallowed, trying to get my raging hormones in check.
“ It’s the change,” Jake said, glancing at the boy as he watched us silently, wanting to hear also. It didn’t take a genius to figure out that Jake wanted to be alone to tell me.
