May 18th

Tonight was the prom and both Brooke and Natasha were getting ready in Natasha's bedroom.

Brooke was curling her hair while Natasha did her makeup. Once Brooke was done, she began doing her makeup as well. She did a dark smokey eye with silver glitter all over her lid. Her face was perfected with foundation and concealer and her lips were lightened with a nude lipstick.

After Brooke got done with her makeup, she slipped in her dress and after that, her heels.

Thanks to Natasha's parents, they were riding to the prom in a limousine. Brooke really didn't see the point but Natasha insisted that they do it anyway because it was their last prom and they should "go all out."

Brooke and Natasha arrived at the prom soon after it started. They looked around at everyone dressed in fancy dresses and sleek suits. It looked like fun but Brooke still couldn't stop thinking about what could've happened. What could've been.

"Come on. Let's go get some drinks." Natasha persuaded as she gently tugged Brooke along. Natasha knew what thoughts were going through Brooke's head and she couldn't help but think if this was a bad idea to bring her here.

After Brooke and Natasha had grabbed something to drink, they chatted randomly about things before Natasha left to go to the restroom.

Brooke stood there, alone, looking at all the couples dancing on the dance floor. More than ever, her heart ached for Scott and she hoped and prayed that they would find him soon.

Brooke was suddenly take off guard when someone grabbed the cup from her hand, set it on the table and pulled her towards the dance floor where a slow song was now playing.

It took Brooke a moment to realize it was James. She was confused as to why he was here and how he got in since he was almost ten years older than her although he probably could've passed off as a 21 year old.

"What are you doing here?" Brooke asked as James grabbed her hand, holding it gently, and rested his other hand on her hip.

"I knew that tonight was your senior prom. I also knew that you two were supposed to go together."

Brooke stared at him, not sure if she should thank him or question him.

"I didn't want you to spend your last prom without one slow dance. I may be a dick to everyone else but I know how to treat a woman." He admitted with a smirk.

Brooke laughed quietly before she rested her head against his chest. She never wanted anything to be like this. All she wanted was to find Scott, to see him and kiss him and hold him. Instead, she was here, slow dancing with his former boss.

"Is this too weird?" Brooke asked as her head still laid against his chest.

"No, why?"

"Well because I'm here, dancing with you while also working with you to try and find Scott."

James nodded his head once.

"Oh." He replied softly. Brooke pulled away when the song was over and thanked James for atleast one dance tonight. He gave her a smile and a kiss on top of her head before disappearing into the crowd of students.

Brooke noticed Natasha watching and walked over to her.

"Who was that? He looked a bit old to be a senior." She asked, referring to James.

"He was a friend of Scott's. He's been helping me through this whole... ordeal and figured he would show up to give me one slow dance for my senior prom."

Natasha couldn't help but smirk.

"He's hot." She stated bluntly. Brooke's eyes widened and she gaped at her friend.

"Yeah and he's also not my type! Plus, he knows that I only want to be with Scott."

"Mmhmm!" Natasha mumbled in denial. She knew that there could possibly be a spark between the two but Brooke would never admit it as long as Scott was in the picture.

After Natasha dropped Brooke off at home, Brooke went straight to bed. She was too emotionally and mentally exhausted to stay awake any longer so after she took her makeup off and changed into more comfortable clothes, she collapsed onto her bed and fell asleep within minutes.

The next morning, Brooke woke up to her father and Natasha standing over her. As she woke up a bit more, they had a smile on their faces. Brooke glance down and saw a cake and a couple gifts.

She groaned and fell back down into bed.

"I don't feel like celebrating today. How about next year?" Brooke asked in a joking tone although she was kinda serious. She didn't want to celebrate without Scott. Knowing that he was missing her birthday was upsetting but soon enough, she would get to see him again. It was just a matter of when.

"Oh suck it up. You're finally an adult, Brooke! Let's go do adult things today!" Natasha exclaimed. Brooke's father let out a soft chuckle and smiled at his daughter.

"Happy birthday, sweetheart." He acknowledged before kissing her on her forehead.

Brooke muttered a quick thank you and her father disappeared out of her bedroom. Natasha sat down on the edge of Brooke's bed and looked at her with a serious expression.

"I know why you don't want to celebrate but you're eighteen now! You have to be somewhat excited!"

Brooke was kinda thrilled to finally be an adult so she couldn't prevent a smile from forming at her lips.

"See! I knew it! Now get dressed! We're going shopping!"

Brooke got up and got dressed in a short white flowy dress with mesh up by her neck as well as down by the hem at the bottom. She wore a pair of white 2.5 inch strappy heels to match the dress.

Brooke left her hair in loose curls from the night before and left her makeup natural except for a soft brown smokey eye and a nude lip

Brooke left her hair in loose curls from the night before and left her makeup natural except for a soft brown smokey eye and a nude lip.

After brushing her teeth and misting herself in perfume, she grabbed her crossbody bag and her keys and headed downstairs.

Natasha was at the kitchen table scrolling through her phone when she glanced up at Brooke.

"Damn girl!" She exclaimed before looking her best friend up and down.

Brooke chuckled before rolling her eyes and grabbing a cup of coffee and a breakfast bar. As Brooke ate, she occasionally stared at the cake that was sitting on the counter before she realized that her father wasn't around. She assumed he got called into work since he wasn't in the house.

When Brooke was done eatting, she got up and collected her things.

"Ready?" Natasha asked her with a huge smile. She seemed to be more excited than Brooke even though it wasn't her birthday.

"No but what choice do I have?" Brooke replied in a teasing voice before Natasha pulled her outside to her car and they both left.
