A message Alert. It was Dad, He wrote: Where are you?
Ya Rabb
What's this change in Daddy, The last time he texted me was like 5years ago!I checked the time.
9:00am.I had a warm shower, dressed up quickly and rushed out of the room.
I was eager to meet Daddy so i fastened my steps to our meeting point, the sitting-room.I met Asabe at the doorway, i lowered my eyes to avoid her, she hissed and passed by.
Whatever.
"Asma'u are'nt you hungry, its past nine! I've been waiting for you so that we can have breakfast". Dad said as i approached him.
Awwwwnnn!
"Good Morning Daddy" i greeted with a smile.
"Good Morning Habibty" He answered and i blushed.Dear Dad, Just know that anytime you called me with 'Habibty', I feel a sense of belonging......
"Asma'u! You think too much! C'mon lets eat, i'm starving".
He interrupted my thoughts and i served us Asabe's food.
The Fried Yam and Plantain tasted good, The tea was beyond comment.
What if Asabe have poisoned this food? What if she have decided to kill us?
"Ga 'yan biyu sunzo gaishe ka!" Asabe walked in with Hassana and Hussaina behind her.
Hussaina smiled immediately she saw me and i smiled back.
Hassana's face was as usual."Barka da Asuba" They greeted Dad.
"Barkanku" He answered.Dad spoke hausa more fluent than me.
"Husna, how are you?" Hussaina asked.
"I'm good" i managed to answer. The sight of her mother did'nt allow me to respond very well.
I wanted to ask her how she was and everything, but no way.I hope she understands.
"Ya batun makaranta?" Dad asked the twins.
"Alhamdulillah, results muke jira" Hussaina answered respectfully.Hassana was busy throwing looks at me.
I seriously don't know her problem.
"MashaAllah, I wish you all the best" Dad said.
"Ameen, Thank you" Hussaina smiled.
I love her smile.
"Asma'u, you can hang around with them, go catch some fresh air" Dad instructed.
I looked at Asabe's frowned face, I know she understood what dad just said.
"Let's go husna" said a happy hussaina.
To say she was happy was an understatement!
I thought of Asabe's warning concerning Hussaina.
"Duk ranar da kika qara janyo min 'ya ta wannan matsiyacin dakin....you'll regret it".
So i'll not allow hussaina anywhere near my room. We can just hang around, the way dad instructed.
" Asma'u what are you thinking of?" Dad asked.
"...umm, nothing..just..that""Ko batason mu'amala da su ne?" Asabe interfered.
She continued "...kasan a cikin turawa take rayuwa ko...""Please Asabe..." Dad interrupted her.
"Asma'u, are you okay with them?" Dad asked, concerned.
I nodded in the affirmative, like a 5year-old child.
"Go spend some time with them, i don't want you to be bored" He said with so much love in his voice.
I smiled.
My Dad, My Hero.
Hussaina took my hands in hers and we walked out together.
All Asabe could do was stare at us.Hassana went straight to there room; The Guest room adjacent to Asabe's.
"Let her go! She behaves like a witch!" Hussaina mumbled.
"No, don't say that again. She's your sister" I murmured. We spent that morning in the house compound chatting and gisting about sensible and senseless things.
For the first time in a long time, i spent hours 'somewhere' in my father's house not 'my room.
We had lunch together after Zuhr prayer. A delicious fried rice.
We went back to our respective rooms after that to take a nap.
Siesta.
I took a cold shower, get into my favourite p.j's and snuggled into bed.
I dozed off, looking at Ummi's picture in a frame, on the bedside-drawer.
Dear mother, i missed you.
