We all know Asabe is a no-nonsense woman.

I was confused when she smiled after Hussaina bumped into her.

"Thank God, you still on your feet!" Dad jeered at her.

Dad!

I turnedaround and saw Dad on the other side of the sitting room. No wonder Asabe could'nt react.

She nodded and passed without a word.

She'll undoubtedly get back to us, or me in particular.

"Hussaina, i'm going back to my room".

Deep down, i don't want to go back to my room. Seeing Asabe is not a good sign at all.

A sign of ill omen, Astagfirullah.

The flight from Abuja to Kano went smoothly, we landed in less than an hour after we took off.

"yanzu daga nan zuwa Kanon shine sai an tafi a jirgi, harda siyo tikitin jirgi guda 5 dan asarar kudi" Asabe complained openly.

Dad ignored.

A driver, named malam Iro picked us from the airport in a brand new family jeep.

I can't get the picture of my room out of my mind--Ummi's bedroom. Already missing the place i crawled and stood up on.

Kano was very noisy and almost everything is sold on the street. Hawkers and beggars are everywhere on the road, causing Traffic jams and accidents, The sounds of car-horn can be heard from different angles, Big trucks and lorries that are'nt allowed anywhere near Abuja city are in every nook and cranny of kano city.

Everyone in the car appeared to be normal with the exception of myself. The driver held onto the steering-wheel, swerving it tirelessly, Dad was sitting comfortable on the front-seat beside the driver, Asabe and Hassana adjacently in the middle-seats of the car, Hussaina and I at the back-seats.

Hussaina was pressing her Android phone effortlessly, chatting.

"Hey, This kano is a total mess!" I groused in a whisper.

Hussaina laughed.

She's never serious.

"Welcome to the Centre of Commerce!" She whispered back, sounding like a radio-broadcaster.

I punched her in the arm and she made some noise which called the attention of Dad, Asabe and Hassana.

"What happened? Are you alright?" Dad asked as Hassana and Asabe stared.

"...yes Dad..we were just playing.." I said and Hussaina nodded.

Dad smiled and turned while Asabe and Hassana gave us a devilish look before turning to their normal postures.

The city became less-crowdy as we drove, The buildings appeared new from their roofings, The air was lighter--unpolluted with many vegetations around.

The outskirts of the city.

"Mun kusa zuwa Alhaji, naga alamun ka gaji" Malam Iro broke the silence in the car.

"Kamar kasani kuwa, na gaji Malam Iro" Dad replied.

"Abunka da tsohon soja" He added and Malam Iro laughed.

We drove for 15 more minutes and Malam Iro pressed the trafficator and took a narrow street.
A small, insignificant signboard at the beginning of the street indicated; 'Closed-lane, Hotoro GRA'.

Tree-leaves rustled as birds whistled. The houses looked peaceful, Everywhere was quiet.

Malam Iro stopped in front of a flat and descended to open the gate before he drove us in.

Here we are!
