chapter 7

the next morning, carl and i both got dressed and when walking down the hallway i saw jesus sitting at the edge of the stairs. "that's the guy from the run yesterday. don't underestimate him." i whispered.

carl took out his pistol and i got my bow ready. jesus turned around when he heard carl's gun cock. "hi reagan." he said smiling.

"what the hell are you doing in our house" carl asked. "well i'm admiring this painting while i'm waiting for rick and his wife to get dressed" he said. i looked over at carl with my eye brows burrowed.

a very underdressed michonne and rick then appeared. i widened my eyes and rick gave me the 'not right now' look.

dad, abraham, sasha, glenn, and maggie were at the stairs with their guns raised too.

we all sat in the kitchen to talk. jesus did most of the talking.

"-you looked like trouble. i was slightly concerned on what you were doing with a teenage girl until she called daryl dad. and i was wrong. you guys are good people" jesus said looking over at me. i gave him a small smile.

we decided to go meet jesus's group. i helped dad with the rv while everyone else got supplies ready.

i went over to go see carl as he was talking to his dad. "no i'm not going" i heard him say. i was on the side of the rv. "reagan is gonna want you to go" rick said right as i approached him.

"someone's gotta stay back and keep this place safe. and a kid with a messed up face probably wouldn't make a great first impression" carl said chuckling a little. rick then handed judith off to carl. "be safe, i love you" he said. i kissed him on the cheek. "i love you too" i said.

i then got inside the rv. i sat next to dad in the rv. it was me, dad, rick, michonne, maggie, glenn, abraham, and jesus in the rv. we were in the back. rick started driving slower.

"rick, what's going on?" i called out. "that's one of ours" jesus said. dad and i looked at eachother with a suspicious look on our faces.

this might be a set up.

we all got out and rick held a gun up to jesus. we went over to the building and jesus tried to convince us to help him get his people. "how do we know that this ain't firecrackers in a trash can?" i asked.

everyone was confused except for me, dad, jesus, and rick. "you don't." jesus said. rick handcuffed jesus and maggie agreed to stay outside with him. dad and i were the last people to go in.

we stayed together to search the building. he had a knife out while i had my bow. dad shoved me out of the way as a walker came towards me and he stabbed it. i then shot the walker behind him.

i pulled out the arrow and we continued on. we heard people talking. he nodded his head in that direction and i nodded.

"come on, we're with jesus" dad said. "i can't go with you, i'm looking for my friends. he's close, he's hurt from the crash" the guy said.

as we ran through the halls, abraham had a guy pinned up against the walls. "no, come on. let's go!" i said to abraham. he let go of the guy and helped him walk. we all then ran out of the building in a swift manner.

we got back in the rv and continued our way back to jesus's place. we ended up getting the rv stuck in the mud.

we got out and saw a wooden wall that was pretty well made. "that's us. that's the hilltop" jesus said. "stay close" dad muttered to me. i nodded. i kept my bow by my side.

"stop right there!" a guy at the gate yelled. all of us raised our weapons at him. jesus made us all calm down and we entered the gate.

we went inside the main house. it's beautiful here. we got introduced to gregory. i don't get a good vibe from him.

he told us all to go get washed up. we all went upstairs. dad took a shower before i did and went back downstairs and talked to abraham.

DARYLS POV

"you ever thought about settling down?" abraham asked. "nah" i said shaking my head.

"it's always just been me and rae since the start. i don't need nobody but her." i continued. "what about her mom?" abraham asked. i looked at him.

"she left when rae was a baby. she was a piece of shit anyways." i admitted. that's when reagan came down the stairs.

she came over to me, wrapped her arms around me, and put her head on my chest. i wrapped my arms around her and gave her a kiss on the top of her head. abraham smiled.

REAGANS POV

after everyone was done, maggie went to go talk to gregory. it didn't go so well.

currently we are talking things over with jesus. gregory wants things too apparently, he just wants what's most beneficial. jesus said he would go talk to gregory and try to talk some sense into him. we need this to work.

"can you give me a few days?" jesus asked. rick looked back at me for a response. "we can" i stated. jesus looked at rick for a response.

"what ever she says goes" rick said. jesus slightly chuckled. there then seemed to be a commotion outside.

"what's wrong?" gregory asked leaving his office. "they're back" the guy said coming into the building. i looked at rick, then jesus, then dad. i then got my bow off my back along with an arrow and held it by my side just incase.

we all then followed jesus outside. i walked next to dad. i don't know what's going on but i know whatever the case is, he'll protect me.

these two guys and one girl came up to gregory. they said that their last income wasn't enough so some guy named negan killed two of their people.

and the guy with a beard said he needed to deliver a message to gregory in order to get his friend back. and the next thing we knew, he plunged a knife into gregory's stomach.

rick and michonne got the bearded guy off gregory and held him back. jesus and maggie attended to gregory. the bearded guy started screaming bloody murder.

i gripped my bow a little more tightly. the guy then tried to attack rick. rick started punching him. then the other guy tried getting a hold of rick so abraham tackled him.

abraham got knocked to the ground by the guy he tackled and he was choking him. dad and i ran over to abraham and the guy, dad broke the guys arm, and flung him backwards.

then i helped abraham up. that caused rick to get off guard and the guy he was on top of rolled on top of him.

then when glenn tried to calm the guy down, rick plunged his fingers into the guys throat and blood went everywhere. rick killed the guy and got up.

dad and i had our weapons pointed at the guy that got his arm broke. everyone around us looked mortified. they clearly haven't been through as much shit as we have. "what" rick asked everyone looking at him.

the guy with a broken arm then stared yelling stuff. i kicked him in the face and knocked him out. dad looked down at me and nodded.

then the girl went over and punched rick but got pushed to the ground by michonne. "don't" she said in the most serious tone ever. she's protecting her man.

the guard for the hilltop then came over with a sphere and told us to drop our weapons. i just looked at him. jesus tried calming him down.

later we started talking things over with jesus. he informed us about the saviors and how they talk half of their supplies. and they don't get anything in return besides living.

dad proceeded to say that we can take negan and the saviors put for food, medicine, and a cow in return. i smiled at the cow part. maggie made the official deal with gregory. i just hope this whole thing works out.

and on the way back to alexandria, maggie and glenn passed around their ultrasound picture. i smiled at it and then at glenn and maggie. they both looked so happy. and i'm happy for them.
