A/N- So a new story for all of you guys to enjoy :) it's a little heavy, just warning you...

My name's Faith. Faith Charlotte Lansen. I'm sixteen, a Sophomore in High School, and live in the boring little town of Pocatello, Idaho. I live with my mom, if you count her as a mother.
Life used to be happy and exciting, until Mom and Dad got divorced, leading Mom to become an alcoholic. He left so long ago, I don't even remember why. All I know is that Mom blames it on me, and for the past six years, she's lost her connection with me. I haven't seen Dad since, and I don't plan on it either. He hasn't made a move to contact me, and I'm pretty sure that he lost custody during the divorce.
I climb out of bed, trudging over to my closet which holds only about four outfits, accomponied by a pair of flip flops and sneakers. Mom doesn't work anymore, and uses the money she has left on beer and cigarettes. Long story short, I'm a sixteen year old that basically survives on the money I get from babysitting and random odd jobs. I've been saving my money to buy a few new things, but a lot of it went towards the rent on the small trailer Mom and I own.
I pick out my good outfit, consisting of a plain blue v-neck and jeans, both of which I bought at the DI, a consignment store downtown. I make a mental note to go to the laundramat and do a load after school once I look at the hallway, a pile of Mom's stuff forming on the floor. I sigh, grabbing my backpack and head to the small kitchen, holding my breath while I make my way through the thick cloud of smoke. Mom's on the couch, passed out, a bottle of liquor in her hand.
I grab a banana and a granola bar, leaving a note for Mom, telling her I left for school. She probably won't read it, let alone care that I'm gone, but I leave one everyday notheless. I walk out the door and down to the bus stop, ignoring the stares I get from passing pedestrians. I meet my friends, Kaiden and Quinn at the stop, sitting on the sidewalk as I begin munching on my banana. Kaiden and Quinn have been my best, and only, friends since we were in Elementary School. They are two out of the three people who know about my life, the third being the counsler that the divorce attorney made me go to when I was younger. I had to stop going, though, due to my Mom's amount of money. Lack of, that is.
The only reason they know is because one day in seventh grade they insisted on coming over, saw my house, and forced me to explain everything. I was reluctant on spilling my life to them, but they got it out of me.
"Faith, wanna come to the mall with Kaiden and I today?" Quinn smiled at me, motioning to Kaiden, who was happily playing a game on her phone.
I shook my head, smiling sadly. "Sorry, the money's gone to the landlord for the rent, and I have to take a trip to the laundramat, and hang some posters for babysitting."
"You know that I could always lend you some money, right?" Kaiden asks, putting her phone in her bag, then looks up at me. "I'm sure my parents would be alright with it."
"No, it's alright." I sigh. "I don't want to take any pity or money from you guys, but I appreciate the support." Kaiden's parents both have well paying jobs, which sometimes made me question why she'd want to be friends with me in the first place. Why would a rich kid want to be friends with a dirt poor kid?
"Fine." Kaiden sighs and stands up when she hears the bus, Quinn and I following.

I grab my backpack from my locker, grimacing at the girls who walk like they own the world, their Vera Bradley bags hung loosely from their arms. I sling my beat up Jansport over my shoulder and walk outside of the school, meeting up with Kaiden and Quinn by the door. We smile as we see the younger kids run to the busses, happy with their school day.
